Two PDP leaders resign from the party

Mr Alam, a former trade union leader who joined the PDP after retiring from government service, said he resigned from the party because it “lacked any vision”.

Last week, two PDP leaders, including the nominee of the party’s political affairs committee, Khurshid Alam, resigned from the party on Sunday.

Mr Alam, a former trade union leader who joined the PDP after retiring from government service, said he resigned from the party because it “lacked any vision”.

When asked about his future course, he said he would make an announcement about it in due time.

Mr. Alam, who rose through the ranks in the Department of Consumer Affairs, was a surprise induction into the PDP as it tried to strengthen its base in the city of Srinagar.

Another PDP leader Yasir Reshi, who rebelled against party president Mehbooba Mufti two years ago, said he too has formally sent his resignation.

Mr. Reshi, who hails from Bandipora district of North Kashmir, said that he would consult his workers and well-wishers before deciding his future.
