TN Child Protection Commission attempts to speed up investigation of boy’s murder in Burgur

The remains of the child were found in the foothills of Malleswaram in a remote village in early February, with officials believing that a case of human sacrifice was possible

The Tamil Nadu State Child Protection Commission has sought a status report on the unsolved murder of a 10-year-old boy whose remains were found in early February this year.

In February in the foothills of Malleswaram, a remote village in Burgur, the remains of the torture of the body of an unknown man, who was unknown, were found. Local people saw the dead body. The boy was found with his head, mouth stuffed with chili powder, burns on the body and attended to new clothes, alluding to a possible human sacrifice. While the crime scene was investigated with the help of a sniffer dog, the investigation has failed to find any evidence for the police.

A month after the crime, the police are yet to make any headway in the case and are securing the culprits. Taking cognizance of the case, and expressing concern over the seriousness of the crime, v. Ramraj, Member, SCPCR has called upon the District Police and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) to update a status on the crime.

Speaking to Hindu, Dr. Ramraj said that the matter is being closely monitored by the SCPCR. “It is a serious crime but the culprits have not yet been secured and they have not been brought. I have spoken to the SP (Superintendent of Police) for a status update. I have directed the District Child Protection Office to closely monitor the case.

Dr. According to Ramaraj, such serious offenses should be eradicated as soon as possible and criminals brought to book, which is the only restriction against such offenses against children. The SCPCR member has urged the police to pay special attention to the case and expedite its resolution.

To date, there have been no complaints of missing children at any local police station.

The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) has also been asked to give an interim report on the status of the police case and has been directed to closely monitor the case in coordination with the police.
