In the Coimbatore South Assembly Constituency, this Assembly election has been suddenly held because of the high profile candidates for the high profile constituency. For this, there will be a possibility of a party president in the constituency, a national chairperson of the women’s wing of a party and an executive chairman of the state unit of another party.

With Makkal Nidi Mayim president Kamal Haasan announcing his candidature from Coimbatore South constituency, BJP was led by Vanathi Srinivasan, president of its National Women’s Wing and Mayura S., its executive chairman of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. The prince is likely to enter the arena. Like never before.

While Srinivasan and Mr. Jayakumar’s candidature from Coimbatore South constituency had been in discussion for quite some time, Mr. Haasan’s announcement shocked everyone.

Incidentally, Ms. Srinivasan and Mr. Jayakumar contested in the Coimbatore South constituency in the last assembly election and finished third and second, securing 33,113 and 42,369 votes respectively.

Political observers said that the MNM had taken over Mr. Hassan and its vice president, R.K. The reason for Mahendran being included in Coimbatore South and Singanallur constituencies is that the party did well in the two assembly segments that form part of the Coimbatore parliamentary constituency in the 2019 parliamentary elections.

Although the party had the highest turnout in the Kavundampalayam (33,594 votes) assembly constituency, the MNM chose Coimbatore South and Singanallur as they were more urbanized in Kavanampalayam. In Coimbatore South, Mr. Mahendran, who was the party’s candidate in the 2019 parliament elections, polled 23,838 votes and 28,634 votes in Singanallur.

Observers said that with all eyes seen in the South of Coimbatore, it would be an interesting election and a close fight would be fought, with Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam winning the seat in 2011 by former MLA R.K. Dorisamy aka Challenger did with Dorai.
