TMC MLA Debashree Roy left the party after being denied an election ticket

Famous actor and two-time TMC MLA Debashree Roy left the party on Monday after being denied a ticket for the upcoming assembly election.

In a letter to TMC state chief Subrata Bakshi, the Raidih MLA said that she would no longer be associated with the party.

“Although I do not hold any position in the party, I felt it necessary to write this letter as I wanted to inform the leadership that I no longer wanted to join the TMC.”

When asked about her future plans, Ms. Roy said she would focus on acting, but is open to joining another party if there is a “concrete proposal”.

Ms Roy was scheduled to join the BJP in 2019, but her plan deteriorated after TMC turncoats and former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee and her friend Baisakhi Bandopadhyay protested against joining the saffron camp.

Incidentally, Mr. Chatterjee resigned from the BJP on Sunday after being denied the election ticket.
