Suspicious police officer Sachin Vej, arrested in Mumbai last week on charges of planting an explosive-laden car near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s mansion, has been heard to “sing about many things”, but they are irrelevant in the case, a senior National Investigation Agency (NIA) official said.
The official said that more arrests are likely in the case.
The NIA arrested Mr. Waze, an Assistant Inspector of Police (API), on 13 March under various charges of forgery, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy and Explosives Act.
“He knows where to draw silence, it makes sense, it’s his right. He is not sharing relevant information related to the case, but otherwise does a lot of things. His actions are blunt but he is in thin air Were not working, we have to find out the whole conspiracy, ”the official said.
The official said that the NIA was not yet investigating the mysterious death of Mansukh Hiran, the last occupant of the Scorpio car found near Ambani’s mansion ‘Antilia’ on 25 February. The case is being investigated by the Maharashtra Police.
The explosive case was transferred from the Maharashtra Police to the NIA on 8 March.
In his previous tenure, a Mumbai Crime Branch officer, a former Shiv Sena member, has been charged with murder in custody. He has been suspended since 2004 and reinstated by the Maharashtra government in June 2020.
Twenty pieces of gelatin sticks were found in the car without nudes. A typed letter in broken English recovered from the car, stating that “Nita Bhabi and RK Bhaiya and Family” (Nita Ambani, Mukesh Ambani and family) said that it was “just a trailer”. The letter warned that there would be a bomb next time.
The letter is now in the possession of the NIA.
On 16 March, the NIA recovered a black colored Mercedes Benz car used by Mr Wedge. From the car, the Scorpio car’s number plate (which was left near the Ambani mansion), 5 more than 5 lakh cash, a note counting machine, and some clothes were recovered.
The car was often parked near the Mumbai Police Headquarters campus. “It is a very large area, anyone can park a car there,” the NIA official said when asked if any other senior Mumbai Police officer was aware of the vehicle.
Deer’s wife Vimala had told the Maharashtra police that her husband was in contact with Mr. Waze and it was the latter who was using the vehicle found near Ambani’s mansion on February 25.
The buck had told police that the Scorpio was stolen from the Airoli-Mulund bridge on 18 February.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh informed the state assembly on March 5 that the deer was not the owner of the car and the real owner handed it to the deer for some internal work.
According to Thane police, Heeran, who was involved in auto parts business, left his shop in an autorickshaw at around 8.30 pm on March 4 and since then his phone was switched off. His family then filed a missing complaint. His body was recovered from Nala area on 5 March.
