Thanjavur School was booked for not following SOP

A case has been registered against a private school in Thanjavur, on charges of negligence in following the standard operating procedure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, where a group of cases were found.

The second batch of 15 students tested positive on Friday in a private school in Thanjavur. Already 11 students at the same school tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection. Therefore, a case has been registered against the school management and a fine of Rs 5,000 has been levied, Collector M. Govinda Rao said.

Mr. Rao said that in an effort to ensure that standard operating procedures were closely followed by the students, the schools from which positive cases were reported were fined.

To prevent the virus from spreading through schools, flying squads formed in 8 assembly constituencies have been asked to monitor whether students wore masks.

Noting that only mild symptoms such as cold in the infected students, the collector said that out of 140 people, including students, teaching and non-teaching staff of various schools, 60 students were discharged from Thanjavur Medical College Hospital on Friday.
