Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2021 | CPI leader Muthrasan says Tamil Nadu is poised to change governance

CPI state secretary says BJP’s campaign to declare DMK-led coalition as anti-Hindu will fail

CPI Secretary of State R. Muthrasan is confident that the DMK-led front will win the assembly elections as it has both the political power and strength of the coalition. In an interview, he said that people would reject that the DMK-coalition was anti-Hindu, as they did in the 1971 election. Part:

How do you see the prospects of a DMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu?

The electoral outcome is determined by the political power and strength of coalition partners. Both are in our favor in this election. I could especially see the overwhelming response to the campaign of DMK leader MK Stalin. In my campaign in Thiruvarur, which was taken up in a short period of time, I could participate in large numbers not only from the activists of the coalition parties, but also from the general public. This is a clear indication that Tamil Nadu is poised to change the regime.

But there is an opinion that there is no anti-AIADMK wave in the state …

This is a campaign run by the ruling party itself. He spread the message that there is no public anger against the government. But the truth is different. If you take into account the delta districts, then the coconut farmers who suffer the brunt of Cyclone Gaza are yet to recover from the loss. They have not yet been able to remove trees in many places. Although the Chief Minister has announced compensation, but it is yet to reach the farmers. They also do not get crop insurance in full. When o. Panneerselvam was the chief minister, declaring the state drought-prone. In Thiruvarur, a farmer was killed during a protest on the issue. The protesters refused to remove her body. Mr. Panneerselvam constituted a committee of four ministers to deal with the issue and declared the state as a drought-prone Chennai. Although he announced the loan waiver, it has not yet been implemented.

During the pandemic, our coalition demanded assistance and 5,000 per family and hoisted black flags in homes to support the demand. The government distributed only The 1,000. Now DMK has promised to distribute DM 4,000 per family. Anger is growing against the government.

Although the DMK has called its manifesto ‘the second hero of the election’, the issue of prohibition is missing …

When Kalaignar (Karunanidhi) was alive, the DMK promised to forgive crop loans and distribute 1 kg of rice for ₹ 1 [initially he promised it at ₹2/kg]. He also promised to lay eggs for the students at lunch. When AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa said that it was not possible to deliver 1 kg of rice on Union 1, the then Union Minister P.K. Chidambaram came out in support of the declaration. After winning the election, he immediately implemented three promises. [the third one being free colour TVs].

There is a belief that the DMK will fulfill its election promises. Jayalalithaa promised liquor ban in a phased manner. But his government is increasing it instead of reducing the number of liquor shops. This fixes the revenue target for Tasmac shops during festivals. We are fighting for prohibition. This is possible and can be implemented in a phased manner.

The BJP has launched a campaign accusing the DMK alliance of being anti-Hindu. How will you deal with it?

We have already responded to the campaign. In the 1971 election, Rajaji and Kamaraj allied against the DMK. A similar campaign was launched against the DMK alliance, which included the Indian National Congress led by Indira Gandhi. Periyar [E.V. Ramasamy] DMK supported the alliance. It was said that those who have faith in religion will not vote for DMK. Kamaraj also made a personal attack on Indira Gandhi. All newspapers predicted defeat for the DMK alliance. However, people rejected the campaign and DMK won the maximum number of seats in that election. It will happen again in this election. The BJP took out its ‘Vetravel Yatra’. Lord Muruga is a Tamil deity who is married to other communities. Does this mean that BJP approves inter-caste marriage of Lord Muruga?

The Communists are in the company of the Congress in Tamil Nadu but oppose it in the neighboring state of Kerala. Will it not send the wrong signal?

In Kerala, there are only two fronts – one led by the Left and the other by the Congress. But the Left and Congress were united to adopt a resolution against farm laws in the Legislative Assembly. When it comes to opposing the BJP, there is no difference between the Left and the Congress.
