  • ANA: PUBG Game Developer Krafton Creates ‘Hyper-Realistic’ Virtual Human

New Delhi, June 16: PUBG game developer Krafton has unveiled the first images of ANA, the company’s virtual human that looks real and is powered by hyperrealism and deep learning. ANA is the first virtual human introduced by Krafton since its initial plan was revealed this past February through a technical demonstration.

With human-like features, such as the baby hairs and fluff on her skin, ANA truly looks unlike any other virtual human that currently exists through other technologies, the company said in a statement late on Wednesday.

ANA was developed through the hyperrealism production technology of Epic Unreal Engine’. ANA displays a hyper-realistic appearance, blurring the lines between a digital character and a real human. Microsoft May Soon Let Users Play Games on Teams.

The highly-advanced face rigging technology delicately expresses the movement of the pupil, fine facial muscles and wrinkles, and enables the natural joint movement across the entire body.

“Additionally, deep learning technologies, such as advanced voice synthesis, help create an artificial intelligent voice for ANA so she can act and sing just like a real human,” said the company.

“ANA is a hyper-realistic virtual human created by Krafton’s unparalleled technology. We expect her to attract the interest and popularity of Gen Z around the world,” said Josh Seokjin Shin, Head of the Creative Centre of Krafton.

“ANA will release an original music track and expand her scope of activity as an influencer into various areas across entertainment and esports,” Shin added. Krafton said it will release more details on Ana later in the year, including “a unique story arc”.

  • Meta Plans To Introduce Four New Virtual & Mixed Reality Headsets by 2024

New Delhi: Meta (formerly Facebook) is working on four new virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) headsets that the company will release by 2024. According to The Information, the aggressive timeline reflects Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s desire to advance his metaverse dream by getting more people to use VR devices. Meta Donates $15 Million for Humanitarian Efforts in Ukraine & Neighbouring Countries Amid Russian Invasion.

“Meta is planning to release Project Cambria, a high-end VR and mixed-reality headset it is billing as a device for the future of work, around September, according to a person familiar with the matter,” the report said late on Monday.

A second version of Cambria, code-named Funston, is likely to be launched in 2024. Project Cambria may cost around $799 — more that the $299/$399 price for Quest VR headsets. The Cambria VR headset may have high-resolution image quality so that you can write and type emails within the VR environment.

Betting big on metaverse, Zuckerberg last week took a deep dive into his next investment priorities that will drive the growth for the company. Zuckerberg said that the center-piece of the strategy is the social platform that they are starting to build with Horizon.

“We plan to launch a web version of Horizon later this year that will make it easy for people to step into metaverse experiences from a lot more platforms, even without needing a headset,” he emphasised during the company’s earnings call.

The Horizon Worlds social metaverse platform is currently available only on the company’s Quest VR headsets. He said that the company’s other focus for Horizon is building out the metaverse economy and helping creators make a living working in the metaverse. On the hardware side, Meta Quest 2 continues to be the leading virtual reality headset.

  • Meta To Allow Creators To Sell Virtual Items in Social VR App ‘Horizon Worlds’

San Francisco: Meta on Tuesday announced it is testing new features in Horizon Worlds, its social virtual reality (VR) app, that will help creators sell virtual items and make money. In a conversation with Vidyuu Studios, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that creator monetisation and metaverse economy is really important. Meta Planning To Launch Digital Currency ‘Zuck Bucks’ After Its Cryptocurrency Project Fails To Take Off.

“There are two new things that I wanted to talk about. One is in-world purchases — basically the ability to sell virtual items and access things inside Horizon Worlds which is part of the commerce equation,” Zuckerberg said in a video posted by Vidyuu Studios on YouTube. “I’m also really excited about the creator bonus programme that we’re rolling out for people who are building awesome worlds in Horizon to compensate and reward them,” Zuckerberg announced.

The company is rolling this out with a handful of creators at the moment. Horizon Worlds was rolled out to Oculus Quest VR headset users in the US and Canada in early December. It reached 300,000 monthly users within no time. According to Zuckerberg, all users with access to Horizon Worlds will be able to make in-world purchases.

“Creator monetisation is really important, because you all need to be able to support yourself and make a good living building these awesome experiences,” Zuckerberg added.

VR and Quest are key parts of the company’s metaverse vision, but it sees the metaverse as an interconnected digital world, one that bridges VR and AR, in addition to more familiar platforms like phone and computer. The company recently announced ‘Personal Boundary’ for Horizon Worlds and Horizon Venues.

‘Personal Boundary’ prevents avatars from coming within a set distance of each other, creating more personal space for people and making it easier to avoid unwanted interactions. ‘Personal Boundary’ will by default make it feel like there is an almost 4-foot distance between your avatar and others.

  • Metaverse: 1 in 4 People To Spend at Least One Hour Daily in Virtual World by 2026

New Delhi, February 7: One in 4 people is expected to spend at least one hour a day in the metaverse for work, shopping, education, social and/or entertainment by 2026, a Gartner report forecast on Monday. However, the adoption of metaverse technologies is nascent and fragmented, and the research cautioned organisations about investing heavily in a specific metaverse.

“It is still too early to know which investments will be viable in the long term, but product managers should take the time to learn, explore and prepare for a metaverse in order to position themselves competitively,” said Marty Resnick, research vice president at Gartner.

The new technology buzzword is led by Meta (formerly Facebook) which is investing $10 billion towards building metaverse. According to the latest data from market intelligence platform Sensor Tower, 522 mobile apps are already using the buzzword to gain new users and earn more money via various app stores. Watch: Tamil Nadu Couples Brings Tradition And Technology Together, Hosts Hogwarts-Themed Wedding Reception In Metaverse.

Gartner said that enterprises will provide better engagement, collaboration and connection to their employees through immersive workspaces in virtual offices.

“Enterprises will have the ability to expand and enhance their business models in unprecedented ways by moving from a digital business to a metaverse business. By 2026, 30 per cent of the organisations in the world will have products and services ready for metaverse,” Resnick added. Metaverse is defined as a collective virtual shared space, created by the convergence of virtually enhanced physical and digital reality.

It is persistent, providing enhanced immersive experiences, as well as device independent and accessible through any type of device, from tablets to head-mounted displays.

Nina Jane Patel, a psychotherapist, recalled an entire incident she faced in Metaverse where she alleged that within a minute of joining the virtual world, her avatar was attacked by three or four male avatars.

The woman said that her avatar was verbally and sexually abused by three to four male avatars, who later, gang-raped her and even took photos of her avatar. • Meta Reportedly Developing Sci-Fi Haptic Gloves To Simulate Touch in Virtual Worlds

New Delhi: Meta (formerly Facebook) is developing sci-fi haptic gloves that can reproduce a range of sensations in virtual worlds, including texture, pressure and vibration, using air pockets. The team is building advanced hand-tracking technology to enable it to identify precisely where your hand is in a virtual scene, whether you’re in contact with a virtual object and how your hand is interacting with the object. Meta-Owned WhatsApp Developing New Apps for Windows & macOS: Report.

“Even with a way to control air flow, the system needs to know when and where to deliver the right sensations,” Meta said in a statement late on Tuesday. “The use of air (a fluid) means we can fit many more actuators on the glove than would otherwise be possible with electronic circuitry,” Meta added.

The company is also developing the world’s first high-speed microfluidic processor – a small microfluidic chip that controls the air flow that moves the actuators.

While the research is still in early stages, the goal is to one day pair the gloves with your VR headset for an immersive experience like playing in a concert or poker game in the metaverse, and eventually they’d work with your AR glasses. Imagine working on a virtual 3D puzzle with a friend’s realistic 3D avatar. As you pick up a virtual puzzle piece from the table, your fingers automatically stop moving as you feel it within your grasp.

“You feel the sharpness of the cardboard’s edges and the smoothness of its surface as you hold it up for closer inspection, followed by a satisfying snap as you fit it into place,” Meta said.

Building these gloves is a challenge that requires inventing entirely new domains of scientific research. Existing mechanical actuators create too much heat for such a glove to be worn comfortably all day. To solve this, Meta is creating new soft actuators – tiny, soft motors all over the glove that move in concert to deliver sensation to the wearer’s hand.

“Our haptic renderer sends precise instructions to the actuators on the hand, based on an understanding of things like the hand’s location and properties of the virtual objects (such as texture, weight and stiffness) that the hand comes in contact with,” the company elaborated.
