Nokia Signs Deal With Bharti Airtel To Deploy Next-Gen ‘Optical Transport Network’ To Provide Superior Services for Customers

New Delhi, November 21: Nokia on Tuesday announced it has entered into an agreement with Bharti Airtel to deploy a next-generation optical transport network (OTN) that will provide additional capacity, higher reliability and lower cost, enabling superior services for Airtel’s customers. Under the agreement, Airtel will utilise Nokia’s ‘1830 PSS-x OTN’ switches in its National Long-Distance Network connecting major cities across India.

“As a world leader in OTN, our technology will help Airtel to increase the capacity and features of Bharti’s optical transport network to meet growing bandwidth demand driven by the enterprise and hyperscaler segments. It will also provide the service level performance to meet the strict SLAs from Airtel customers,” Chandan Kumar, Head of Optical Network Business Centre for Nokia India, said in a statement. Microsoft Announces New Features in Outlook Lite Such As Voice Typing, Transliteration and Others Along With SMS Support for Indian Users.

The increased capacity will enable Airtel to potentially deliver faster and more reliable broadband services and be ready for new use cases, Nokia said. According to the company, its OTN solution enables Bharti Airtel to seamlessly upgrade its legacy transport switching infrastructure across its pan-Indian network footprint to meet new transport network traffic demands while improving both the performance and reliability of its network.

Nokia noted that the launch of 5G networks and the push for broadband connectivity across India is increasing demands for Communications Service Providers (CSPs), including augmentation of backhaul transport for denser 5G mobile networks, wholesale connectivity for new segments like smart grids, data centre interconnect (DCI) and other business services. Employment News: Titan Company Plans to Hire Over 3,000 Employees in Next 5 Years.

To address this exponential growth in traffic demand, transport networks need to be upgraded to increase overall transport capacity and bandwidth efficiency using high-capacity OTN switching and utilising additional spectrum, including the L-band wavelengths of the fibre, it added.

  • Elon Musk Reportedly Aims To Build Over 1,000 Starships To Transport Life to Mars

San Francisco: Billionaire Elon Musk on Monday said his space venture SpaceX aims to build over 1,000 Starships to transport life to Mars. The Tesla CEO stated that making life multiplanetary will help backup the ecosystems on Earth. He added that apart from humans no other species can transport life to Mars. Elon Musk Hints Paying Less for Twitter As He Fights With CEO Parag Agrawal Over Bots.

Referring to Biblical patriarch Noah who built an Ark that survived the great flood on Earth, Musk said his Starship models will be “modern Noah’s Arks”, that can save “life from a calamity on Earth”.

“Making life multiplanetary expands the scope & scale of consciousness. It also enables us to backup the biosphere, protecting all life as we know it from a calamity on Earth,” he tweeted. “Humanity is life’s steward, as no other species can transport life to Mars. We can’t let them down,” he added.

When a user asked Musk “what’s the plan”, he replied: “Build 1000+ Starships to transport life to Mars. Basically, (very) modern Noah’s Arks.” SpaceX is developing Starship to take people and cargo to the moon, Mars and beyond. The vehicle consists of two elements: a first-stage booster called Super Heavy and an upper-stage spacecraft known as Starship.

Starship and Super Heavy are both designed to be completely and rapidly reusable, and both will be powered by SpaceX’s new Raptor engine — 33 for Super Heavy and six for Starship.

Musk earlier said that Mars settlement and deep space exploration will see reduced costs due to its reusability. NASA also sees considerable promise in Starship. The US space agency selected the vehicle to be the first crewed lunar lander for its Artemis programme, which aims to put astronauts on the moon in the next few years.

However, the Starship programme has not yet been given a green signal by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA, last week, delayed the completion of its environmental review of the Starship by another two weeks to June 13. While SpaceX has conducted a number of high-altitude test flights of Starship prototypes at Starbase site in South Texas, its plan to launch the system’s first-ever orbital test mission needs approval from the FAA and a host of other regulatory bodies.

  • Drones to Transport Meghalaya’s High-Quality Lakadong Turmeric

New Delhi, February 7: Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills witnessed the first-of-its-kind fly-off event to demonstrate the use of drone/UAV technology for payload delivery that could serve as a model to solve the connectivity issues for the state’s high-quality Lakadong turmeric farmers.

A Commerce and Industry Department official said on Saturday: “The fly-off event would not only give a fillip to the mandate of the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative, but also leverage modern technology as a fundamental solution to overcome the bottleneck of transportation that acts as a barrier in realising the optimal potential of this exceptional spice from Meghalaya.”

Lakadong turmeric has been identified under the ODOP initiative under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and one of the world’s finest turmeric varieties with the highest curcumin content of 7-9 per cent (in comparison to 3 per cent or less in other varieties). It is rapidly becoming a game changer in the economy of the district.

The percentage of curcumin and oleoresin content in turmeric determines the demand by the industry along with the price. India is the largest producer and exporter of turmeric (APEDA, 2019). Meghalaya Reports 210 New COVID Cases, 4 More Deaths.

India exported $236.5 million worth of turmeric in 2018 from $182.53 million in 2017. Under the ODOP initiative, the price of Lakadong Turmeric has increased by Rs 20, from Rs 150 per kg in 2021 to Rs 170 per kg in 2022.

India produces 78 per cent of the world’s turmeric, as per a government data. Meghalaya has applied for a Geographical Indication tag for Lakadong turmeric.

  • Vehicles for converting donkeys to transport donkeys to Kathirimalai Hamlet

Vehicles for converting donkeys to transport donkeys to Kathirimalai Hamlet

Voting has always been a challenging task in Kathirimalai in the Anthiyur Assembly constituency that can be reached after passing through a nine-kilometer forest area, with election officials choosing 133 materials to replace donkeys with pickup vehicles to enable them. Strange voters to exercise their democratic right.

The hamlet, located inside the reserved forest area of the Chenampatti forest range of the Erode Forest Division, has 276 members belonging to the Soliga community, dependent on farming and animal husbandry. They have to walk to reach Kathiripatti or Thanda village in the foothills to purchase essential commodities.

In the last elections, electors reached Elakiyapatti, a village in the foothills of Salem district for five hours, and again traveled 85 km to Anthiyur and exercised their franchise. During the 2016 assembly elections, a booth was set up on the hilltop at Government Tribal Residential Middle School and donkeys delivered electronic voting machines and voting materials.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, five donkeys carried polling material from the foothills to Hamlet and back.

Last month, the forest department allowed repair works on the right of way and a pickup van was operated on a trial basis. The presence of the boulder and steep terrain posed a risk and the vehicle could not be operated.

Later, some repair work was done on the route and a trial run of the vehicle was carried out. Rathna of Kathirimalai, owned by the donkeys, had recently sold them and bought a pickup vehicle to bring people to the hilly areas.

An official who was part of the voting team in 2019 said Hindu It was difficult to walk for 12 hours with the help of sticks in the reserve force. He expressed happiness over driving vehicles in place of donkeys. Election officials said the pickup van will transport materials for the April 6 voting.
