New Delhi, November 21: The recruitment for the IT sector has remained muted, while the demand for talent with functional skills such as Development, ERP, Automotive Design, Testing, and Administration, among others, has surged in the second quarter (Q2) of FY24, a new report revealed on Tuesday. According to the business solutions provider Quess Corp, about 65 per cent of the aggregate demand emerged from Development, ERP, Automotive Design, Testing, and Administration skills.

In addition to these functional skill suites, incremental demand for skills related to Gen AI, Data Science, DevOps, Cloud, Automotive Engineering, Cyber Security, Networking Specialists and more were also noted in Q2. “For the first time in recent history, large IT services companies have shown a decline in headcount and reduced guidance values, signalling a collective exercise of caution in navigating the future,” said Vijay Sivaram, CEO of Quess IT Staffing. Truecaller To Work With Indian Government To Solve Massive Challenge of Spam, Scam and Frauds, Says CEO Alan Mamedi After Meeting IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar (See Pics).

Sam Altman Sacked: Several Indian Startup Founders Support Ousted OpenAI CEO Who Is Bullish on Country’s AI Talent

New Delhi, November 18: Several Indian startup founders and CEOs expressed solidarity with ousted OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who came to India in June this year and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that Boards need to better align with founders. BharatPe Co-founder and former managing director Ashneer Grover said that he would love to see some day “60-year-old Board members come together as founders to build anything meaningful”.

“Sam, I am going through the same things in India,” said Grover, who was ousted from fintech firm BharatPe in 2022 over allegations of financial irregularities. Vijay Anand, popularly known as The Startup Guy who has been working to help create a startup ecosystem in the country, said that it is irony that “we have stifling on one side and on the other hand CEOs that are too smart and commit frauds and siphon money out and the board watches helplessly”. Sam Altman Sacked: OpenAI Board Will Go After My Shares if I Go Off, Says Ousted OpenAI CEO.

“Perhaps what is needed is a governance AI that monitors and will ensure business is above board and will escalate to the board as required,” Anand posted on ‘X’. In June, Altman met PM Modi and discussed India’s incredible tech ecosystem with him. Altman, who also addressed students and others at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi), said that he had a great conversation with PM Modi.

“Great conversation with @narendramodi discussing India’s incredible tech ecosystem and how the country can benefit from AI,” Altman posted on ‘X’. “Really enjoyed all my meetings with people in the @PMOIndia,” he added. Sam Altman-Founded Worldcoin’s Crypto Token Crashes 12% After His Ouster From OpenAI.

Altman also faced controversy during his India visit when his comment was taken out of context. Altman was heard saying in a video that India’s chances of developing a ChatGPT-like tool were “hopeless”. He later clarified that his response had been taken out of context, emphasising that he was specifically addressing the question of competing with OpenAI with a mere $10 million investment.

Altman encouraged Indian startups to explore new avenues and contribute innovative ideas to the world. Last month, Altman invested in an AI startup, founded by two Indian-origin teenagers Aryan Sharma and Ayush Pathak in the Silicon Valley in the US. The startup called Induced AI, founded this year, has raised $2.3 million in its seed-funding round led by Altman and VC firm Peak XV, along with “an incredible set of investors”.

New Delhi: Micro-blogging platform Twitter has laid off 30 per cent employees from its talent acquisition team amid the $44 billion takeover by Elon Musk, the media reported on Friday. The sacked employees will receive severance packages and the company will “reprioritise’ remaining recruitment staff.

Twitter had earlier announced to halt most hiring across divisions. As Twitter paused hiring, the micro-blogging platform last month shifted employees away from audio Spaces, Communities and newsletters verticals for areas that “will have the greatest positive impact to the public conversation”.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal in May fired consumer product leader Kayvon Beykpour and head of revenue product Bruce Falck, saying there is a hiring freeze now and Twitter will also pause spending in most areas. Agrawal had said that the company will also be reviewing all extended offers to determine criticality and those that should be pulled back.

“We are not planning company-wide layoffs, but leaders will continue making changes to their organizations to improve efficiencies as needed,” Agrawal had said in a memo to employees. “Some have been asking why a alame-duck’ CEO would make these changes if we’re getting acquired anyway. While I expect the deal to close, we need to be prepared for all scenarios and always do what’s right for Twitter,” Agrawal had said.

Twitter has paused most hiring and backfills, except for business critical roles as determined by ‘Staff’ members.
