    A horrifying video shows a house hanging at the edge of an enormous 100-Feet-Wide sinkhole dubbed as ‘Gate to Hell’ in Russia. The sinkhole was formed after the ground collapsed in Shergesh iron-ore mine in Siberia. All the houses were evacuated by the authorities, including the one hanging on the edge of the sinkhole. The iron-ore mine that collapsed is owned by the steelmaking giant Evraz.     A van fell into a sinkhole in New York city on Monday night. Bits of the street slowly continued falling into the hole as people watched. First, parts of the street crumbled under one of the van’s rear wheels. Then the entire van fell into the hole. Alarms went off as the van landed. A car parked nearby looked like it was in danger of falling into the hole. No casualties were reported in the incident according to officials.

    Mexico City, June 4: A massive water-filled sinkhole which opened up for unknown reasons in a field in central Mexico is getting bigger, local authorities said. The sinkhole, which was just five metres in diameter when it was first discovered in the village of Santa Maria Zacatepec in the central state of Puebla, is now 97 by 78 metres, the general coordinator of the local civil defence, Jose Antonio Ramirez, said on Thursday.

    The owner of the only house in the vicinity, which stands directly on the edge of the crater, first discovered it when she heard a loud noise at the weekend. Ramirez said her house was at risk.     Mexico’s national civil defence said underground water flowing in the easily eroded soil may have caused the crater. The estimated depth of the hole is around 20 metres. The Popocatepetl volcano is about 50 km west of Santa Maria Zacatepec. The ground there contains deposits of ash and fine volcanic fragments.

    According to the US Geological Survey, sinkholes form when groundwater circulates underground, dissolving the rock beneath the surface and creating spaces and caverns underground. Authorities have repeatedly warned the public to stay away from the crater.

    Massive Sinkhole Opens In Mexico; Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The Growing Mysterious Sinkhole Threatening To Swallow a House

    A massive sinkhole opened last weekend in a field near the town of Santa Maria Zacatepec in Central Mexico. The sinkhole with a depth of 65ft and a diameter of over 300 ft is threatening to swallow a house in the area. According to the residents of a nearby house, they first heard strange sounds, and after a quick check discovered a hole in the ground and saw the water bubbling.

    The Sinkhole had an estimated diameter of 5 meters (or 16 feet) when it was first discovered by the residents. Magdalena Sanchez, a local resident told El Sol de Mexico that before the sinkhole appeared in the area, they heard a loud sound akin to thunder.  It has since rapidly expanded and grown at an exponential scale. The authorities have cautioned residents to stay away from the hole that is still growing and is dangerously close to a nearby house.

    The Governor of Puebla, Miguel Barbosa Huerta said, the people in the area have been evacuated since “It is a matter of enormous risk,” Newsweek reported.

    According to local authorities, there are volcanic deposits that have inundated the ground around Santa Maria Zacatepec. These ash soils are among the most productive soils in the world and ideal for farming.  They suspect that the groundwater likely eroded the volcanic ash layers, land left behind a hole that eventually started to collapse, Forbes reported.
