    Qian Maleppé insisted on Paris Saint-Germain after winning 3–2 in a thrilling bout at Leigh Bayern Munich in Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-finals. Bayern repeated their 19-match unbeaten run in the Champions League in last year’s final, as the German giants suffered their first European defeat by March 2019. PSG raced behind closed doors with a 2–0 lead after just 28 minutes. Allianz Arena as Neymar scored goals for Mbappe and Marquinhos.

    However, Mbappe showed his class with a brilliant second goal, giving the visitors an advantage to return to Paris.

    “We used to have all our opportunities and there was a bit of luck, but nothing has been decided,” Mbappe told Sky, the second leg to arrive in Paris on Tuesday.

    PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navis played a key role with a string of saves as Bayern completed their target with 31 shots, compared to six from the French club.

    “We have to score a lot more goals,” Muller said. “If it had ended for us at 5-3 or 6-3, no one could complain on the basis of probability.”

    Bayern coach Hans Flick, who finished as the first-ever losing player in the Champions League, also captured the number of missed opportunities.

    “The opportunities we had, we could have got a good result despite scoring three goals,” Flick said.

    “We don’t like to lose, but the way the team played was top.”

    It was a record 19th appearance in the Champions League quarter-finals for Bayern, but there was little to convince him at the final whistle.

    PSG coach Maurico Pochettino said, “Qian Mabappé made the difference. It’s a very positive result for us, but everything is still open.”

    Marquinhos score and limb off

    The Kovid-19 cast their shadow on both teams with Bayern winger Serge Gnabry, plus PSG duo Alessandro Florenzi and Marco Veratti.

    Heavy snow fell in Munich in the first half as the visitors put heat on the holders.

    The opening goal came after Neymar hit a hole in the defense and threw the ball for Mbappe, whose shot flew into the net through Manuel Neer’s feet.

    PSG forward Julian Drexler denied a goal with Mbappe in the build-up as the visitors kept up the pressure.

    Bayern midfielder Leon Gortzka put a header in Navis’ feet just before the hosts scored two goals.

    A clearance kick only came in the form of Neymar, whose over the top ball Markinhaus unmarked his shot into the area to stroke Neuter before the PSG captain was injured.

    Flick responded by bringing in Alfonso Davis to provide momentum on the Flanks and move David Alaba into the defensive midfield.

    The hosts pulled back a goal when Mueller’s cross was ahead of Navas by four-motting, making it 2-1 at half-time.

    Neymar was denied by Nair and attempted to remove Angel Di Maria from the line, while Leroy Sane passed for Bayern at the other end as both teams had their chances after the break.

    Bayern equalized when Mueller hit the brilliant Joshua Kimich with a free-kick in the hour.

    However, it was Mbappé on a cold night in Munich, who showed his class by turning Bayern defender Jerome Boateng in and out, before driving his shot past a neuter 22 minutes left.

    Bayern went down fighting as Alba and Müller both fired at the dying feet.

    The Bundesliga giants said that Robert Lewandowski would miss almost a month of injury in the Bayern Munich Champions League quarter-final against Leigh Saint-Germain. After scoring twice after Poland’s 3–0 win over Andorra on Sunday in World Cup qualifying, Lewandowski said in a statement, confirming the injured ligaments in his right knee, “the striker will be out for about four weeks”.

    The 32-year-old will also miss second-placed RB Leipzig in the top-ranked Bundesliga clash on Saturday, with leader Bayern four points clear.

    Lewandowski is also out of Poland’s qualifier against England at Wembley on Wednesday.

    Bayern host PSG in the final-8 first leg on April 7, before visiting the Paras des Princes for the comeback game on 13 April.

    Without Lewandowski, Bayern reserve striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Motting or Germany’s winger Serge Gnobry could play in front.

    The Poland International has scored 35 goals in 25 league games this season, leaving him close to Gerd Müller’s record of 40 in the Bundesliga season.

    Even in Lewandowski’s absence, RB Leipzig insisted that they would not take Bayern lightly.

    Leipzig’s sports director Marcus Croche told Daily Breed before Lewansky’s diagnosis that “Bayern would have a strong team on the pitch – even without Lewandowski.”

    “Basically, you don’t want to hurt on anyone, but it is already the case that we are focusing on our own performance.”

    Lewandowski voted as the best male player of FIFA 2020, scoring a total of 42 goals in 36 matches for Bayern this season.

    On Tuesday, on the eve of the 2022 World Cup qualifier against England, 19 Poland players said that two more Poland players have tested positive to bring the total to four. Football Association spokesman Jacob Kwiatkowski said on Twitter, “Poland’s national team performed more coronovirus tests. Unfortunately, the results were positive for Gryazgorz Krychowicz and Kamil Piatkowski.” Kwiatkowski, who said he himself tested positive as well, said the Polish football association was talking to UEFA to consider requesting authorization for Kryachovic to say he was already a coronovirus.

    Midfielder Matus Klich and backup goalkeeper Lukasz Skorpsky tested positive last week.

    Striker Robert Lewandowski will also miss the game at Wembley after injuring his right knee during a match against Andorra on Sunday in which he scored two goals.

    Poland has seen a rapid increase in coronovirus infections over the past few weeks and currently has one of the world’s highest contagion rates per capita.

    The Polish Football Association said on Monday that Robert Lewandowski would miss Poland’s 2022 World Cup qualifier against England with a right knee injury. Bayern Munich suffered an injury during a 3–0 win over Andorra in Warsaw on Sunday in which they scored two goals but had to leave the field in the 63rd minute.

    The statement said, “It usually takes between five and 10 days to heal with such an injury. So Robert Lewandowski will return to the club.

    The absence of Lewandowski is a setback for Poland, who will be counting their star striker in what is arguably the most difficult match of their qualifying campaign against England.

    Poland currently sit third in Group I on four points, two in Gareth Southgate’s leaders and a 3-3 draw in Budapest and Hungary are second after Sunday’s win.

    Lewandowski has scored three times in those two matches, twice against Andorra and a fiery late leveler against Hungary.

    Bayern initially said that the 32-year-old would not be left to play in the match at Wembley on Wednesday, but changed his mind due to a change in Germany’s Kövid-19 travel restrictions.

    The reigning European champions will be hoping to return in time for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-finals with Paris Saint-Germans, which will be played at the Allianz Arena in Bayern on 7 April.

    Lewandowski is hoping to break Gerd Muller’s Bundesliga record of 40 goals in a single season, as he plays eight league games in a total of 35 leagues.

    The Polish side is already vulnerable to coronavirus infections.

    In the last few days, two players, midfielder Matus Klich and backup goalkeeper Lucas Skorpsky, have tested positive.

    Holders Bayern Munich captured a 6–2 aggregate victory in the final-16 second leg with a 2–1 win over Lazio in the Champions League quarter-finals. Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty from his second half replacement Eric Maxim Choupo-Motting before the DFT chip and doubled the advantage on the night. Lazio caught a consolation when Marco Parolo was hit on the head for a late free-kick from close range. “Winning is very important to us.     He extended his unbeaten run to 19 games in the Champions League in two years.

    “We needed a good performance and we were out of the competition with a positive game,” Lazio coach Simone Enzagi told Sky.

    “Some teams are infallible: Bayern are one of them.”

    With his foot trailing 4–1, Inzaghi opted to rest top-scorer Ciro Immobile, starting with 1.94-meter-long Vedat Muriki.

    Bayern had skipper and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Nair sidelined by the cold as Understander Alexander Neubel made only his third start of the season.

    Bayern were awarded a penalty on 31 minutes when Muriqi brought Leon Gortzka down in the area.

    Upon review of the VAR, Lewandowski hit the resulting spot-kick.

    It was the 39th goal in the Champions League and the 39th in the Poland League in all competitions this season.

    Lewandowski defeated Lazio goalkeeper Pepe Reina for 67 minutes.

    It was one of his final engagements as he and Thomas Mueller made way for Choupo-Moting and 18-year-old Jamia Musiala.

    Less than two minutes later, David Alaba passed a pass for a snatch and fired at Reena.

    Bayern were guilty of scavenging for eight minutes from the final whistle, when Andrea Pereira’s free-kick was headed by Mooriki’s replacement parole.

    Serge Gunbury fired on Bayern for a long time, keeping Bayern under pressure.

    Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi said the Italians played better than their first leg defeat, but admitted that “Bayern are probably the best in the world”.

Bayern maintained their dominance in the final before hosting Lazio in the Champions League, taking a 4–1 lead on Wednesday in the second leg. Goals by Leon Gortzka and Serge Gnabry beat Beren 2–0, before Lewandowski scored his 32nd league goal this season. Bremen striker Nickelas Phulekrug came off the bench to score a late consolation goal. Bayern forward Thomas Mueller said, “We were new and more active. We had control over the game. We should have scored more goals”.

    Despite hitting the post and clipping the crossbar, Lewandowski eventually scored an hour in Bundeliga’s 268 goalscalega goals going equal to former Skalake striker Claus Fisher.

    Only Bayern veteran Gerd Mueller has scored more in Germany’s top flight with 365 in 427 league games.

    Bremen goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka’s superb save prevented Lewandowski from scoring late with a powerful header.

    The win increases Bayern’s lead to five points at the top of the table.

    Second-placed RB Leipzig need to defeat Intrachat Frankfurt at home on Sunday to keep pace with the Bavarians.

    Mueller was outstanding in Bremen as his fleet flick allowed Goretzka to score the opening goal from a corner on 22.

    With a superb piece of skill, Muller then cleverly ditched the ball and rolled a pass into Gunabri’s way to score on 35 minutes.

    It was 2–0 at the time of the break and Lewandowski scored twice as fast at the start of the second half.

    Poll finally hit the scoresheet when he tapped home from close range before being handed his consolation by Bremen after a counter-attack.

    Third-placed Wolfsburg placed another nail in the bottom coffin of Schalke which crashed to a 5–0 defeat at home.

    Schalkred Mustafi, a former Arsenal defender from Schalke, took the lead in his own net in the first half.

    Floodgate opened after the breakout when Wout Weghorst, Riddle Baku, Josep Bracallo and Maximilian Philippe all scored for Wolfsburg.

    With nine games left, Schalke has only one mathematical chance to escape the first charge in 30 years.

    With just one league win all season, they are 11 points off the bottom three with a dreadful goal difference of -50.

    Mainz claimed a major victory in the reclamation fight when Swedish striker Robin Quisson scored six minutes from time in his 1-0 win over Freiburg.
