  • Instagram May Soon Allow Users To Reply to Stories With Voice Message or Image

New Delhi: Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram is reportedly working on a new feature that would allow users to reply to Stories with an image or a voice message. Alessandro Paluzzi, a developer who reverse engineers apps to find upcoming new features, took to Twitter to share a screenshot from Instagram Stories with a microphone icon in the field for story replies. “Instagram is working on the ability to reply to Stories with voice messages,” Paluzzi said in the tweet. Instagram Users Can Now Control Their Feed With ‘Favourites’ & ‘Following’.

Instagram introduced two new ways — Favourites and Following — to choose what users see in their feed. The company said it wants users to be able to shape Instagram into the best possible experience and give them ways to quickly see what they are most interested in.

Favourites show users the latest from accounts that they choose, like their best friends and favourite creators. In addition to this view, posts from accounts in Favourites will also show up higher in home feed. Following shows users posts from the people they follow.

Both Favourites and Following will show users posts in chronological order to quickly catch up on recent posts. To use Favourites and Following, users will need to tap on Instagram in the top left corner of the home page to choose what they see.

  • Twitter Rolling Out New Feature That Allows Users To Change Who Can Reply to Their Tweet

Twitter Rolling Out New Feature That Allows Users To Change Who Can Reply to Their Tweet

New Delhi: In a bid to give more power to its users, Twitter on Wednesday said it is rolling out a new feature where you can decide who can reply to your tweet after you post it, a move that will help curb harassers and abusers on the platform. Called “Change who can reply,” the feature is available in the three dots menu next to your tweet. New IT Rules: Twitter Suspends Over 22,500 Accounts in First Compliance Report for Child Sexual Exploitation, Non-Consensual Nudity & Promotion of Terrorism.

“Your Tweets = Your space. Now you can change who can reply to you even after you Tweet,” the company said.

Currently, the users can limit who replied to your tweets, but they have to set that preference while writing the tweet. With the new feature, the users can change who can reply at a later time. The new feature will soon be available on iOS, Android and the web globally.

To change who can reply, click or tap the three-dot menu on a tweet and look for the option in the menu. Earlier this month, the micro-blogging site revealed two concepts for upcoming features, including ‘trusted friends’, that would allow users to target tweets toward specific audiences without having to switch accounts or change privacy settings.

The first would enable people to designate “trusted friends” so some tweets would only be visible to that group. The idea is similar to Instagram’s “close friends” feature for Stories.

According to an image shared by Twitter designer Andrew Courter, Twitter’s version would allow users to toggle the audience much like the way you can choose who can reply to you. Another feature would allow people to take on different personas or “facets” from the same account.

  • WhatsApp Says Privacy ‘Highest Priority’ in a Reply to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology: Report

WhatsApp Says Privacy ‘Highest Priority’ in a Reply to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology: Report

New Delhi: WhatsApp on Monday said it has sent a reply to the notice by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) after the ministry directed the Facebook-owned platform to withdraw its controversial user privacy policy. In its fresh notice to the company, the MeitY told WhatsApp to respond to its concerns by May 25. A WhatsApp spokesperson said in a statement that the company has responded to the Government of India’s letter and assured them that the privacy of users “remains our highest priority”. WhatsApp Won’t Apply New Data-Sharing Rules in Turkey.

“As a reminder, the recent update does not change the privacy of people’s personal messages. Its purpose is to provide additional information about how people can interact with businesses if they choose to do so,” the spokesperson said.

Noting that many Indian users depend on WhatsApp for communicating on a daily basis, the ministry had said in the notice that it is irresponsible for WhatsApp to leverage its position in the Indian market to impose unfair terms and conditions. As per the ministry, the changes to WhatsApp privacy policy and the manner of introducing the changes undermines the sacrosanct values of informational privacy, data security and user choice and harms the rights and interests of Indian citizens. The WhatsApp spokesperson said that the company “will not limit the functionality of how WhatsApp works in the coming weeks.

“Instead, we will continue to remind users from time to time about the update as well as when people choose to use relevant optional features, like communicating with a business that is receiving support from Facebook,” the spokesperson added. “We will maintain this approach until at least the forthcoming PDP (personal data protection) law comes into effect”.

The MeitY communication had noted that WhatsApp’s new privacy policy is a violation of several provisions of the existing Indian laws and rules. WhatsApp has rolled out its privacy policy globally including in India, where it has more than 400 million users. The users will not immediately lose their accounts or face curtailed functionalities, but they will have to eventually go through limited functions if they fail to accept the new norms in the due course of time. After persistent reminders, the users will encounter limited functionality on WhatsApp until they accept the updates.
