Twitter Account of Ravi Shankar Prasad Locked Due to DMCA Complaint by Sony for Using AR Rahman’s Popular Song ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’: Reports

New Delhi, June 26: Twitter on Friday locked IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad’s account for almost an hour stating that he violated the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DCMA) by Sony Music Entertainment. Miffed by Twitter’s actions, the Minister took a dig at the microblogging site saying that it violated new IT rules that require intermediary or a host of user content to give prior notice before locking access.

However, the exact reason for Twitter denying access to the Union minister is a tweet dating back to 2017 which is related to music director AR Rahman’s famous song ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’. The popular song by the iconic music director was found in violation of Twitter’s copyright policy, prompting Twitter to briefly lock Prasad’s account. According to the Lumen database, the DMCA notice, related to the song ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’, was sent by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) on behalf of Sony Music Entertainment back on May 24. Reports inform that the notice was received by Twitter on June 25, following which the social media platform took action and locked Prasad’s Twitter account.

In the tweet by Prasad that dates back to 2017, the content consisted of a tribute video to the Indian Army, where the AR Rahman’s song ‘Ma Tujhe Salaam’ was used in the background. It was posted on the anniversary of the 1971 war victory, said people familiar with the development.

Massive Global Internet Outage: Services Being Restored After Huge Internet Shutdown Hits Popular Websites, Including Leading News Portals

San Francisco/New Delhi, June 8: After a huge global web outage caused by a “service configuration” took popular websites, including leading news portals, off the grid on Tuesday, the services resumed for some websites although it was a slow process.

The technical glitch happened at the end of Fastly, a popular content delivery network (CDN) provider. The Cloud computing services provider said that the issue has been identified.

“The issue has been identified and a fix has been applied. Customers may experience increased origin load as global services return,” Fastly said in an update. “We identified a service configuration that triggered disruptions across our POPs [points of presence] globally and have disabled that configuration. Our global network is coming back online,” a Fastly spokesperson was quoted as saying in media reports.

A CDN refers to a geographically distributed group of servers that work together to provide fast delivery of internet content. Several popular websites were down, including Reddit, Spotify, Twitch, GitHub, Hulu, HBO Max, CNN, the Guardian, the New York Times, BBC, Financial Times and many more.

“Error 503 Service Unavailable,” was the message that appeared on the affected websites earlier.

Other popular websites affected were gov.uk, Quora, PayPal, Shopify and others. The issues affected the UK government websites as British citizens were unable to renew passports, apply for tax allowances, or obtain driving licence during the outage. The Guardian newspaper said its website and app were affected by a wider internet outage. “Outages were reported in locations as varied as London, Texas and New Zealand,” the report noted.

Last year, a problem with Cloudflare, another CDN company, led to a half-hour outage for most of the internet in major cities across Europe and the Americas.

XXX Site OnlyFans Used to Traffic Drugs, Launder Money and Exploit Children? Australian Authorities Investigate the Popular Subscription-Based Adult Portal

XXX site OnlyFans is under investigation by the Australian authorities over fears of being used as a medium of trafficking drugs, launder money and exploit children. NCA NewsWire reports that financial crimes watchdog AUSTRAC and the Australian Federal Police are monitoring the not-safe-for-work site over concerns its murky payments platform is facilitating crime, as banks and regulators are unable to establish who receives the payments. OnlyFans is a UK-based company that allows users to create a page and then charges customers a fee to view the content. A large portion of the content on the site is explicit adult content and pornography.

According to its website, OnlyFans boasts more than one million content creators and 100 million users and has generated more than US$3bn in earnings for creators. University of NSW associate professor Michael Salter said there were deep concerns the platform was rife with people funding the sexual exploitation of minors and questioned whether the company was doing enough to verify ages or check where money was going. Salter, who is investigating OnlyFans with a consortium of academics, financial institutions, and government agencies, claimed sexual content involving children was already being uploaded to the site.

“Last year through international partners we came across an OnlyFans account that was advertising on Twitter,” he said. “It had about 25,000 followers and was advertising a very young model who was male. We requested an assessment from a forensic paediatrician, who confirmed that the individual could be no older than 13 or 14, based on his physiological characteristics.” Salter and his partners contacted US authorities and the page was taken down on both Twitter and OnlyFans.

Bee Gees biopic: Kenneth Branagh to direct movie on popular band

The film will follow the lives of brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb from their humble beginnings to pop superstardom

Actor-filmmaker Kenneth Branagh will next tackle a biographical movie about classic music band Bee Gees.

Writer Ben Elton, who worked with Branagh for 2018 period movie “All Is True”, penning the current draft of the screenplay, reported Variety.

The project, which has been set up at Paramount, will follow the lives of brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb from their humble beginnings to pop superstardom.

Following their first No. 1 hit “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” the Bee Gees went on to write and perform hundreds of popular songs such as “Stayin’ Alive”, “How Deep Is Your Love”, “Night Fever” and “Jive Talkin’”.

They also worked on the soundtrack for John Travolta and Karen Lynn Gorney’s cult classic 1977 movie “Saturday Night Fever”.

The biographical movie, which is currently untitled, will be produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is producing the film with “Bohemian Rhapsody” producer Graham King via GK Films and the production company Sister. Barry Gibb, the only surviving member of the band, will serve as an executive producer. He had recently participated in HBO documentary “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” about the band.

Branagh’s directorial credits include movies such as “Belfast”, “Murder on the Orient Express”, “Thor” and “Cinderella”.

The British filmmaker is currently awaiting the release of multi-starrer “Death on the Nile”, a sequel to his 2017 movie “Murder on the Orient Express”.

In addition to directing the film, Branagh also features in it alongside the likes of Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Ali Fazal, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright.
