It all started when a user asked Musk, “Elon is it true that Twitter is set to increase the characters from 280 to 4000?” To this Musk replied, “Yes”.

Several users expressed their thoughts on Musk’s post. While one user said, “It would be a big mistake. Twitter’s purpose is to provide fast news. If this happens, a lot of real information is lost,” another commented, “4000? That’s an essay, not a tweet.” On the other hand, Twitter on Sunday started to roll out ‘Community Notes’ to all users globally. Elon Musk Increasing Twitter Character Limit from 280 to 4000: Report.

Twitter To Up Its Character Limit From 280 to 1000! Elon Musk Teases Update in Response to User’s Tweet

California, November 29: Twitter rants are set to grow bigger.

The microblogging site’s character limit might soon expand to 1000 characters from its previous limit of just 280 characters.

CEO Elon Musk teased the update in response to a user’s suggestion.

“It’s on the todo list,” Musk wrote. Facebook Parent Meta Fined $276 Million by Irish Data Regulating Body Over Data Leak of Over Half a Billion Users Including Indians.

According to a report by Mashable, Twitter was referred to as a “microblogging service” mainly due to its limit of 140 characters for its tweets. Eventually, the limit was increased to 280 characters in 2017. The news was announced on Twitter’s official blog.

“many people Tweeted the full 280 limit because it was new and novel, but soon after behavior normalized…….We saw when people needed to use more than 140 characters, they Tweeted more easily and more often,” the official Twitter blog read.

The character limit has been one of the prime differences between Twitter and other social media services. Musk has shown interest in the idea of increasing the character limit on a number of occasions since his takeover of the platform, as per a report by Mashable. On November 27, a Twitter user suggested to Musk to increase the platform’s word limit from 280 to 420.

“Good idea” Musk wrote in response. Twitter Rolls Out New Update To Identify ‘Low Quality’ Community Notes.

Prior to that, another user had suggested “get rid of character limits.”

“Absolutely”, the multi-billionaire responded. Musk recently announced another major change for the platform with its multi-coloured verification system.

The three-coloured system would replace the previous ‘Twitter Blue’ service which had to be pulled off within days of its release due to rising number of accounts impersonating well-known brands and personalities while carrying the ‘verified’ check.

  • Fantasing Gaming: 1 in 2 Indians Want Loss Limit of Rs 50-500 per Game

Fantasing Gaming: 1 in 2 Indians Want Loss Limit of Rs 50-500 per Game

New Delhi, November 22 : As the debate on online gaming heats up in India, more than one in two Indians (54 per cent) want a loss limit of Rs 50-500 per game for online and fantasy gaming, a report said on Tuesday. While platform operators term fantasy games as games of skill, most citizens believe they are a game of chance with financial risks involved.

While the Supreme Court has upheld its position and the position of the Punjab High Court in 2017, ruling that fantasy sports are a game of skill, the public view continues to differ, according to online community platform LocalCircles. Samsung to Bring Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now to 2021 Smart TVs.

LocalCircles conducted a nationwide survey which received over 33,000 responses from people from 322 districts. For 65 per cent out of 9,507 respondents, online fantasy sports is akin to gambling/wagering or a game of chance with risks in contrast to the position of the Supreme Court.

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on October 1 approved the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Ordinance, 2022, banning online gambling and regulating online gaming in the state. Qualcomm To Enhance Immersive Gaming Experience on Premium Smartphones.

This was the second attempt by Tamil Nadu to regulate this industry after the first law, passed in 2020, was struck down by Madras High Court in August 2021 deeming it unconstitutional to ban “games of skill”.

Last week, the All India Gaming Federation moved Madras High Court challenging this ordinance. The petitioner before the court has contended that games like poker and rummy should not come under the ambit of “betting and gambling” as they are games which require skills.

According to the report, some citizens have equated these games to state lotteries of the late eighties and early nineties where people lost money regularly but a select few called them a game of skill, using probability theory. Nearly 91 per cent respondents also want a ban on unsolicited spams promoting online and fantasy games.

“People are concerned about unsolicited messages being sent from online gaming and fantasy sports platforms and 92 per cent want such unsolicited communication to be prohibited. The telecom regulator, TRAI, must act to enforce the same,” said the report.

  • Instagram Silently Limits ‘Daily Time Limit’ Option: Report

San Francisco: Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram reportedly appears to have quietly removed the ability for mobile users to set a lower daily time limit reminder than 30 minutes. Indeed, the app’s UX design nudges people to choose a three hour ‘limit’, TechCrunch reported on Monday. Instagram Introduces Bulk Delete, Security Checkup Features Globally.

This daily time limit setting pops up a notification to the user once their app activity hits their preferred limit, reminding them to be conscious of how much time they are spending on the app — and maybe making it easier for them to choose to quit out of the app voluntarily.

Previously the company supported a user-defined limit for Instagram that could be as low as 15 minutes, or even 10 minutes, per day, when it was making a big PR push to suggest that more ‘mindful’ usage of its services was possible, as concern over social media addiction surged.

But it seems the attention-loving adtech giant now wants Instagram users to spend longer eyeballing content feeds on the platform where it can cash in by targeting them with ads, the report said. TechCrunch was alerted to the Instagram settings change by a tipster who shared screenshots of their account which show the company nudging them to “set a new value for your daily limit” because, as it puts it, “the available daily limits are changing as part of an app update”.
