    Lenovo leads worldwide PC market, claims report – morningtidings

    NEW DELHI: The worldwide PC market continues to grow through the second quarter of 2021, despite facing a chip shortage. According to the latest report by the research firm IDC, the market shipped a total of 83.6 million units growing 13.2% YoY.
    “The PC market’s hot streak continued to drive heavy investments from the supply side including the entry of new vendors as well as additional spend from underdogs”, added the report.
    As per IDC, Lenovo leads the PC market followed by HP, Dell, Apple and Acer respectively.

    According to the data shared by IDC, Lenovo managed to maintain its lead from Q1, 2021 and captured a 23.6% market share. The second on the list is HP, the company shipped a total of 18.5 million units and captured a 22.2% market share.
    Dell captured third place on the list as it shipped 14 million units and recorded a growth of 16.4%
    Apple and Acer captured third and fourth slots respectively. Apple has a 7.6% market share while Acer maintained a 7.0% market share.

    “With businesses opening back up, demand potential in the commercial segment appears promising. However, there are also early indicators of consumer demand slowing down as people shift spending priorities after nearly a year of aggressive PC buying,” added the report.
    Recently, Lenovo launched Yoga Duet 7i and IdeaPad Duet 3 laptops in India. The price of Lenovo Yoga Duet 7i starts at Rs 79,999, whereas, the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3 comes with a starting price tag of Rs 29,999. The two detachable notebooks are already up for sale in the country. The customers can purchase the IdeaPad Duet 3 in Graphite Grey case and Duet 7i in Slate Grey colour options.

    Lenovo has expanded its 2-in-1 laptops segment in India with the launch of Yoga Duet 7i and Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3.
    The 2-in-1 Lenovo Yoga Duet 7i and Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3 devices offer a choice to use as a tablet or as a traditional laptop by attaching the keyboard.

    The Lenovo Yoga Duet 7i has been priced in India starting at Rs 79,999, whereas the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3 is priced at Rs 29,999 onwards.
    Both the Lenovo devices will be available for sale starting July 12.
    The Lenovo Yoga Duet 7i will be available via Lenovo’s website and Amazon, on the other hand, Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3 will be available via Lenovo.com and online partner platforms.

    It comes powered by Intel’s 11th-generation Core i5 CPU coupled with Intel Iris Ze graphics. The laptop also comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to a 1TB PCIe SSD.
    In the camera department, the Lenovo Yoga Duet 7i houses a 5MP camera both front and back.
    Battery life is rated to be up to 10.8 hours, which is optimised by artificial intelligence for up to 20% extended battery life with the Lenovo Q-Control Intelligent Cooling feature.
    This 2-in-1 device supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The device has an HD Audio chip and two 1W Dolby Audio stereo speakers.
    It offers support for Lenovo e-colour pen too.
    Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth v5. The laptop weighs 1.16kg and supports Lenovo Voice Assistant.
    Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3 specifications
    Launched in Graphite Grey case colour options, the IdeaPad Duet 3i offers a 10.23-inch WUXGA (1920×1080 pixels) IPS display with 330 nits of brightness.
    It is powered by Intel Celeron N4020 processors, which comes paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB eMMC storage.
    For camera purposes, it houses a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.
    Running on Windows 10 OS, the IdeaPad Duet 3i houses Intel UHD Graphics 600.
    It is claimed to deliver 7 hours of battery life. The IdeaPad Duet 3 is said to make hands-free communication easier with Cortana digital assistant plus dual 360-degree mics. There’s also a privacy shutter on the webcam.

    OnePlus is gearing up to enter a new product category soon. The company is expected to launch its tablet as the device has appeared on the official website of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
    OnePlus has already launched devices in the non-smartphone categories. These include smart TVs, smartwatches, smart bands and wireless earbuds. With the launch of its first tablet, the company seems to compete with the likes of Samsung, Lenovo and others in the tablet device category.
    The trademark was filed on July 1, 2021. It does not reveal any spec/feature of the OnePlus Pad.
    OnePlus’s sister companies Realme and Vivo are also working to launch their own tablets. Realme, earlier this year in June announced its plans to unveil a Realme Pad. The company also teased the upcoming device via a Twitter post. Similarly, the trademark for Vivo Pad has also been spotted on the EUIPO listing.
    In a piece of related news, OnePlus is reportedly working on the ‘T’ version of the OnePlus 9. To be called OnePlus 9T, the smartphone is expected to be unveiled in the third quarter of 2021. The handset is tipped to offer a 108MP primary rear camera. Online reports suggest that the smartphone will come with Hasselblad camera branding.
    OnePlus 9T is expected to run on ColorOS 11 and is said to feature a quad lens camera at the back.
