    Bengaluru, November 28 : Google Cloud and e-Governments Foundation, on Monday, launched the first Tele-ICU hub at K.R. Hospital in the presence of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Health Minister K. Sudhakar in Mysuru which will connect the ICU healthcare in remote hospitals in the state.

    “We are excited to partner with Google Cloud who are enabling 10 Bed ICU and the Tele ICU hub with their best-in-class technology. We launched a hub in Manipur with Google Cloud earlier this year and are now launching our first hub in Karnataka,” Srikanth Nadhamuni, Chairman, 10BedICU Project and Managing Trustee, eGovernments Foundation said in a statement. Mild to Moderate Stress is Good for Health: Research.

    10BedICU is a programme managed by the eGovernments Foundation that was conceived during the pandemic to create ICUs (intensive care units) in government hospitals across the country, particularly in rural and remote areas, according to an official report.

    With 10BedICUs, the aim is to create a hub-and-spoke model where specialists from medical colleges manage the units in taluka hospitals connected to a TeleICU hub.     National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Limited (NIIF) on Thursday announced an investment of ₹ 2,100 crore in Manipal Hospitals based in Bengaluru through its Strategic Opportunities Fund (SOF).

    NIIF MD and CEO Sujoy Bose said, “With this investment, we look forward to playing a role in meeting India’s health needs.”

    With increasing number of new COVID-19 infections in the city, government hospitals are in a state of readiness.

    The infrastructure created was in place and hospitals are gearing up to add more facilities and manpower in terms of growth.

    Major government medical college hospitals set up exclusive COVID-19 facilities last year. As the number of fresh cases began to decline, hospitals resumed their regular activities such as elective surgeries and outpatient services from October 2020.

    In the last 10 days, the number of cases in Chennai was increasing. However, hospital officials said the treatment facility was intact.

    At Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), Tower 3 has a special COVID-19 facility with three floors of 120 beds. Of these, 40 to 50 beds were allocated for intensive care units. “We have four wings on each floor, two for the ICU and two for patients requiring oxygen and high flow nasal cannula.     Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra said on Thursday that a meeting of representatives of private hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka (ABARK) scheme will be held on 8 March to address the grievances of the scheme beneficiaries.

    He was speaking at an event to distribute Ayushman Bharat cards to journalists at Mangaluru Press Club organized by Dakshina Kannada District Work Journalists Association here.

    Dr. Rajendra said that he has already asked hospitals to do a minimum check on patients before being admitted so that their financial burden can be reduced. ABARK applies only after the patient is hospitalized.

    DC said that more than 23,000 patients with 4,275 COVID-19 positives have reaped the benefits of ABARK in the district since its launch in 2018.

    ABARK District Nodal Officer Ratnakar said that a referral letter of District Government Hospital is necessary for BPL card holder or other beneficiary of ABARK scheme to get treatment in private hospitals.

    However, patients needing emergency medical care, including accident victims, can be admitted directly to the nearest Embedded Private Hospital without a referral letter and benefit from ABARK.

    Dr. Ratnakar said that a patient in BPL category can get treatment up to 5 lakhs while non-BPLs can get up to 30% discount on treatment cost of 5 lakhs under ABARK.

    This scheme was applicable only for treatment in general wards. Dr. Ratnakar said that the ABARK cell at the district level approved the entry within 30 minutes of being informed about the entry.
