  • Onam 2022 for Monkeys: Vanara Sadya or Feast for Monkey Shows Animals Enjoying a Lavish Meal as Part of Kerala Harvest Festival (Watch Video)

    Navodaya library organised the Vanara Sadya special feast for a group of monkeys at Edayilekkadu sacred groove.The locals have been organizing this feast for 15 years. Though it was held during the COVID-19 pandemic also, this was the participation of people made it regain its old fervour. The sadya was served on a tender banana leaf which was laid on a table. Offerings included slices of tomato, beetroot, carrot, cucumber, ivy gourd, passion fruit, banana, pineapple and coconut along with rice and poppadom.

In the 2-minute 18-second video clip, hundreds of students of Vandoor Girls Higher Secondary School in Malappuram can be seen dressed in traditional attire as they tap their feet to music while celebrating Onam. The video also shows hijab-clad girls dancing with other students to celebrate Onam festivities.
