The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday filed a chargesheet in the case of the death of film actor Sushant Singh Rajput before a special court, which named 33 accused, including actor Riya Chakraborty and his brother Shoik.
Chargesheets of over 11,700 pages, seizures of drugs, collection of various evidences done so far and examined before a special court constituted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The voluntary document has named 33 individuals as accused in the case, including statements by Riya Chakraborty (who was said to be in an affair with Rajput), her brother Shavik, and more than 200 witnesses.
Eight of the total accused are still in judicial custody, while the rest including the siblings have been granted bail, the NCB said.
The top drug law enforcement agency said further investigations were continuing in relation to several other known and unknown individuals.
The NCB said during the investigation that began last year, seizure of various narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, electronic gadgets and Indian as well as foreign currency notes.
It stated that technical gadgets and mobile phones were analyzed and relevant serious evidence about drug sales, purchases, purchases, consumption, and seizures was extracted.
The drugs seized during the investigation have been sent for chemical examination, the central agency said.
The investigating agency said that the case was thoroughly investigated on the basis of seizures affected by the accused persons, technical evidence such as voluntary disclosure statements, connectivity through call details, WhatsApp chat, details of bank accounts / financial transactions and other oral and documentary evidence. . .
During the investigation, substantial amounts of narcotic drugs (charas, ganja, LSD, ecstasy) and psychotropic substances (alprazolam and clonazepam) were seized, covered under the provisions of sections 20 (b), 22, 23 of the NDPS Act. , It was confiscated. said.
The investigating agency said that sufficient Indian and foreign currencies were also seized during the investigation.
“Due to ecological concerns, a large part of the attachments (forms part of the charge sheet) have been submitted in electronic form to the Honorable court,” it said.
“At the conclusion of further investigation, supplemental charges will be filed in accordance with the law,” it said.
The NCB launched an investigation into alleged use of drugs in some quarters in Bollywood following the death of Rajput (34) in June last year.
The central agency started its investigation based on some WhatsApp chats in the context of drugs.
The central agency had arrested Riya Chakraborty, her brother Shovik, some Rajput employees and some others under various sections of the NDPS Act.
