    New Delhi, January 2 : Homegrown online food delivery platforms Swiggy and Zomato have revealed that they had delivered 1.65 lakh and 16,514 biryani orders, respectively, on New Year’s Eve. Swiggy tweeted on December 31: “I’m just hoping y’all have enough room left for the 1.56 lakh biryanis that’s also been delivered.” Swiggy: More Layoffs Coming As Online Food Delivery App’s Losses Doubled to Rs 3,629 Crore in Financial Year 2022-23.

    Later, it posted that “the number of biryani orders have now gone to 1.65 lakh since I tweeted this”. Swiggy CEO Sriharsha Majety also revealed that more than 1,22,000 users were live on the application on that day and said: “Happy to see Swiggy’s mission of delivering unparalleled convenience coming to life.”

    On the other hand, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal revealed that 16,514 biryanis, roughly 15 tonnes, were delivered on the last day of 2022. He tweeted: “16,514 biryanis (roughly 15 tonnes that is?) on the way to where they belong right now.     Goyal also revealed that orders delivered on New Year Eve were more than the total number of orders delivered in the first three years of the company’s food delivery service.

    The Zomato CEO himself delivered four orders on that day and said, “Back in office. Delivered 4 orders; one of them to an elderly couple celebrating NYE with their grandchildren.” He added, “45 per cent up since the last year, so far!!”

    Zomato Now Available in Hindi, Delivers More Than 150,000 Orders via Regional Language Platforms

    New Delhi, November 25:  Online food delivery platform Zomato on Friday announced it is now available in Hindi and other widely spoken regional languages including Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.

    The company said it is delivering more than 150,000 orders a month via the regional language versions of the Zomato app. “Hindi and Tamil contribute to 54 per cent and 11 per cent of these orders currently, respectively, and the rest are growing rapidly,” said the company.     “While we are grateful for the positive sentiment, we recognise that we’re just getting started. We will continuously work on improving the quality of our regional app to make them more accurate and contextual,” said the food aggregator.

    The online food delivery platform consolidated net loss decreased to Rs 251 crore for the September quarter, against Rs 430 crore in net loss in the same quarter last year.  Zomato to Acquire Quick Commerce Company Blinkit for Rs 4,447 Crore.

    The revenue went up to Rs 1,661 crore against Rs 1,024 crore in the year-ago period, a significant 62.2 per cent jump, the company had said in a statement. “This is the first quarter where we have crossed the billion dollar annualised revenue mark (at $1.05 billion),” said Zomato.

    Blinkit’s Gross Order Value (GOV) grew 26 per cent quarter-on-quarter to Rs 14.82 billion while the revenue grew 44 per cent quarter-on-quarter. “Adjusted EBITDA loss in quick commerce reduced to Rs 2.59 billion from Rs 3.26 billion in the previous quarter (Q1FY23),” the company said.

    New Delhi, February 23: Three more Rafale fighter aircraft arrived in India on Tuesday evening after taking off from France. The Rs 60,000 crore contract between India and France for 36 Rafale fighter jets is now nearing completion as only one aircraft is left to be inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF).

    “Three Rafale fighter aircraft arrived in India yesterday evening from France. The aircraft were provided aerial refuelling support by the UAE Air Force. With the arrival of these three planes, India has now received 35 of the 36 Rafales for which it had signed a contract with France in September 2016. The 36th aircraft will arrive in India from France by March-end or April first week,” said government officials. Jammu and Kashmir: 2 Held for Trying To Enter Indian Air Force Station in Jammu.

    India had ordered 36 Rafale fighter aircraft from France in September 2016. The addition of Rafale is seen as a major capability booster for the IAF.

    Ashok Leyland Delivers First Light Bullet Proof Vehicles to Indian Air Force

    Developed using ‘transfer of technology’ from Lockheed Martin, the vehicles are made entirely in India.

    Hinduja’s flagship firm Ashok Leland said on Friday that it, along with Lockheed Martin, has given light bulletproof vehicles to the Indian Air Force for the first time.

    These modern vehicles were delivered on 13 April. The Light Bulletproof Vehicle (LBPV) is a customized version of Lockheed Martin’s CVNG (common vehicle next-gen), the company said in a regulatory filing.

    It has been developed under the Transfer of Technology (TOT) from Lockheed Martin to Ashok Leyland. Ashok Leyland said that it is completely indigenous and developed in India.

    LBPV mud, sand, rocks, and shallow water have high-road mobility. It can accommodate a crew of 6 with enough cargo space to carry enough mission equipment.

    This vehicle also provides better protection and combat capability and the crew is well protected from both ballistic and blast hazards.

    “It is a matter of pride for us to supply to the armed forces. We have the opportunity to be able to use our expertise in mobility in the service of our nation.

    Vipin Sondhi, managing director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, said, “This LBPV is another example of our team’s ability, combined with a strong sense of understanding required in difficult situations.”

    Ashok Leyland COO Nitin Seth said that the company’s mobility solutions for defense personnel and logistics range from 4×4 to 12×12 and have proved to be reliable partners in India’s armed forces.

    “Our relationship with Lockheed Martin began in 2014 under their CVNG program and TOT transfer and we hope to develop many more products on this platform for India and the export market,” said Seth.
