    Kannauj, March 13: A groom allegedly refused to marry the bride simply because she had secured very low marks in her class 12 examination. The bizarre incident has been reported from Kannauj district in Uttar Pradesh. The police are trying to solve the case by counselling the two families. However, if both parties don’t reach a consensus, the police will take appropriate action, said the police station in-charge of Tirva Kotwali area PN Bajpai.

    According to a report in OdishaTv, the bride’s family have registered an FIR against the groom’s family alleging that the groom’s family called off wedding because their dowry demands were not met.     The complaint said that he had fixed the marriage of his daughter Soni with Sonu, son of Ramshankar of Baganwa village and they had also organised a ceremony in which he had spent over Rs 60,000 and also gave a gold ring worth Rs 15,000 to the groom. 

    He alleged that the groom’s family raised the demand for dowry the very next day.     The bride’s family even tried to convince the groom’s family through their relative, but the groom’s family remained adamant about their demand, forcing the bride’s father to seek help from the police.

    As per the reports, the doctor and his neighbour are residents of the Palasia area of the city. However, the complainant got annoyed by the crowing of his neighbour’s rooster. The police said that they will first try to talk to both parties and if the matter is not resolved, they could take legal action. The complainant, Doctor Alok Modi, has also said that the man has kept four dogs that keeps barking.     The complainant, further said that he returns home late at night, hence sleeping late. The rooster starts crowing early in the morning which gets him annoyed. The police said that they will soon approach both parties to discuss the issue and find a solution to the problem. “If the problem persists, action will be taken under section 133 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC),” a cop said.

  • Uttar Pradesh: Disappointed With Lack of Rains in Gonda, Farmer Files Complaint Against ‘Rain God’ Indra

    In a bizarre incident reported from Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, a senior revenue department official in UP’s Gonda district has recommended action against Rain God Lord Indra after a farmer identified as Sumit Kumar Yadav, a resident of Jhala village in the district, submitted a complaint during “Samadhan Diwas” (complaint redressal day) on Saturday.

    Reportedly the action against Lord Indra, the god responsible for causing rains has been recommended as the district did not receive sufficient rainfall.     In his complaint Yadav said that poor rainfall in the district had adversely impacted people’s lives. “All are suffering owing to lack of rains.     The Tehsildar to whom the complaint letter was submitted forwarded the same to the DM for action, without even reading it.

    When asked, Verma denied having forwarded any such letter, which went viral on social media. “I was shocked to see the letter. It is a forgery. I did not forward any such letter,” he claimed. Verma also said that a probe would be conducted in the matter to ascertain the truth.

    Sources said that the letter contained his signature. “Hundreds of complaints are received from the people during Samadhan Diwas. At times, the letters are forwarded for further action without going through their content,” another district official said.

    After the incident came to light, Gonda District Magistrate Dr. Ujjwal Kumar said the person making such complaint will be identified and action will be taken against him. On the instructions of the DM, the Tehsildar has lodged an FIR against unknown people at the Colonelganj police station.

    Bengaluru, Sep 17: Karnataka police have launched a hunt for a youth who kissed his co-passenger — a college student, before alighting from a bus in Bengaluru.

    According to the police, the incident took place on September 13, when the girl was returning to Bengaluru from Bellary in a state government-owned KSRTC luxury bus after Vinayak Chaturthi festival.

    The accused who sat close to her seat was watching ‘Geetha Govindam’ Telugu flick which has the scene of the protagonist kissing the heroine while she is in deep sleep.     When the bus stopped near Peenya-Jalahalli for passengers to alight, the youth kissed the girl on the cheek and went away. Before she could realize what happened, the youth had got down from the bus and vanished.

    His “filmy-style” attempt has not gone down well with the girl. The student of Architecture lodged a police complaint against the co-passenger, the police sources said on Friday.

    Now, the jurisdictional Bagalagunte police are looking for the youth. They are verifying CCTV footages in the surrounding areas and getting the statements of the bus driver, conductor and other passengers to nab him.

    The girl lodged the complaint later after reaching home. The investigation is underway.

    Fortnite Developer Epic Games Reportedly Files New Complaint Against Google in Anti-Trust Lawsuit

    San Francisco: Fortnite developer Epic Games has renewed its fight against the app store restrictions, filing a new complaint against Google in its anti-trust lawsuit. The company last year sued Google over the removal of Fortnite game from Play Store. The new complaint “adds mostly redacted details about Google’s alleged monopolistic behavior on Android, including banning Epic’s game Fortnite from the Google Play Store last year”, reports The Verge. Google has denied the claims made by Epic Games. Fortnite Maker Epic Games Reportedly Offered Sony $200 Million To Bring PlayStation Titles to Its Store.

    “While Fortnite remains available on Android, we can no longer make it available on Play because it violates our policies. We will continue to defend ourselves against these meritless claims,” a Google spokesperson was quoted as saying in the report on Thursday.

    Epic plans to launch Fortnite on the Samsung Galaxy Store.

    “Google was determined not to let this happen,” so it offered Epic a “special deal” to launch on Google Play. “When Epic rejected the deal, Google allegedly took other anti-competitive action, but the details of that action aren’t available,” the report mentioned, quoting the new complaint.

    A new multi-state antitrust lawsuit in the US this month claimed that Google allegedly used anti-competitive practices to “preemptively quash” Samsung’s Galaxy Store in order to prevent it from becoming a viable competitor to its own Play Store. Epic is also involved in a legal battle with Apple. Apple’s main trial with Epic finished in May, with both sides now awaiting a decision from Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers on the matter.

    The much-reported trial between Apple and Epic Games began on May 5, as the companies got involved in a legal battle over the use of an in-game payment system. While Epic Games argues about Apple’s monopoly over the app market and treats 30 per cent standard fee amount to anti-competitive behaviour that must be regulated by antitrust law, Apple contends that “the whole antitrust allegation and associated dust-kicking is little more than a PR stunt”. The Fortnite game was removed from App Store in August last year after the company allegedly violated rules by adding an in-game payment system aimed at depriving Apple of its commission on in-app purchases from App Store.
