Elon Musk To Sue Non-Profit Organisation Media Matters As Apple, Disney and Other Companies Pause Ads on X

San Francisco, November 18: Elon Musk on Saturday said X will file a “thermonuclear lawsuit” against non-profit organisation Media Matters and those who “colluded in this fraudulent attack on our company,” as big advertisers like Apple, Disney, Warner Bros, IBM and others reportedly paused advertising on the platform for allegedly promote antisemitism.

Media Matters in its report had claimed that as Musk continues his descent into white nationalist and antisemitic conspiracy theories, his social media platform has been placing ads for major brands like Apple, Bravo (NBCUniversal), IBM, Oracle, and Xfinity (Comcast) next to content that supports Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party. Apple, Disney, Warner Bros and Other Major Firms Pull Ads From X After Elon Musk’s Antisemitic Posts.

The report led to tech and media majors like Apple, IBM, Disney, Warner Bros, Discovery, Paramount and Comcast/NBCUniversal reportedly pulling or halting their advertisements, along with Lionsgate and European Commission, on X. The billionaire X owner posted: “The split second court opens on Monday, X Corp will be filing a thermonuclear lawsuit against Media Matters and ALL those who colluded in this fraudulent attack on our company.”

“Despite our clear and consistent position, X has seen a number of attacks from activist groups like Media Matters and legacy media outlets who seek to undermine freedom of expression on our platform because they perceive it as a threat to their ideological narrative and those of their financial supporters,” the letter read.

The letter alleged that these groups try to use their influence to attack “our revenue streams by deceiving advertisers on X”. “To manipulate the public and advertisers, Media Matters created an alternate account and curated the posts and advertising appearing on the account’s timeline to misinform advertisers about the placement of their posts,” the letter argued.

Earlier on Saturday, Musk posted: “Media Matters is pure evil.” X CEO Linda Yaccarino said that their point of view has always been very clear that discrimination by everyone should stop across the board.

  • What Is Coffee Badging? Know About Newest Workplace Trend Among Employees as Companies Ask Them to Return to Office

What Is Coffee Badging? Know About Newest Workplace Trend Among Employees as Companies Ask Them to Return to Office

Since last year, phrases like ‘quiet quitting’, ‘rage applying’, and ‘great resignation’ have become popular, capturing the fury and annoyance of some workers who were unable to maintain a work-life balance due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Many workers are getting more smarter and creative with their time in the workplace as employers ask them to return. According to a Forbes report, this has resulted in the rise of the “coffee badging” craze.

As per the expression ‘coffee badging’, employees arrive at work, get a coffee, mingle with colleagues, and depart with a symbolic ‘badge’ for their presence. The process specifically capitalises on the idea of showing up for work, going out for coffee with coworkers, and swiping your ID badge to prove that you have been there. Employees immediately leave the office after this and go home. This is ultimately seen as opposition to the most recent mandates about returning to work. What Is Rage Applying? After Moonlighting and Quiet Quitting, New Practice Being Adopted by Dissatisfied Employees, Know All About the Latest Workplace Trend.

Owl Labs, a company that develops 360-degree video conferencing technologies, said in its 2023 State of Hybrid Work report that “the yearly return-to-office power struggle that happens each autumn has arrived yet again.” Employers like Zoom, Meta, Salesforce, JP Morgan, and others are requesting—and in some cases, even compelling—their employees to return to work.

The Owl poll indicates that there are several reasons why workers are declining to return to their jobs. Individuals prefer not to squander time and cash on recurrent visits to the office, but many businesses still “have work to do” in order to establish a warm, productive, and stress-free workplace that makes workers want to stay on staff. What Is Bare Minimum Monday? Australian Boss Introduces New Concept for Employees to Beat the Monday Blues, Here’s What It Means.

However, as it highlights a lousy part of workplace culture, this practice may potentially have dire consequences. Workers would believe that coming to work is a chore that has to be avoided. Colleague resentment might arise if they see one another abusing the rules governing hybrid work. This could be problematic for people who work in the office all day. Coffee badging may also shorten team meetings and undermine efforts to foster a positive work atmosphere.

Hive Ransomware Actors Extort Over $100 Million From 1,300 Companies, Warns US Government

San Francisco, November 19: The US government has warned about an ongoing ransomware activity that has victimised over 1,300 companies worldwide, receiving approximately $100 million in ransom payments.

The Hive ransomware actors follow the ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) model in which developers create, maintain, and update the malware, and affiliates conduct the ransomware attacks. Ransomware Attack in India: Small Businesses at Highest Risk of Cyberattack in the Country, Says Report.

“From June 2021 through at least November 2022, threat actors have used Hive ransomware to target a wide range of businesses and critical infrastructure sectors, including government facilities, communications, critical manufacturing, information technology, and healthcare,” read the joint advisory by the FBI, the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and the Department of Health and Human Services.

The Hive actors have bypassed multi-factor authentication (MFA) and gained access to aFortiOS’ servers by exploiting common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE) CVE-2020-12812. Cyber Attack: Spike in Ransomware Threat to More Than 1.2 Million Per Month Between January-June, Says Report.

“This vulnerability enables a malicious cyber actor to log in without a prompt for the user’s second authentication factor (FortiToken) when the actor changes the case of the username,” according to the joint advisory. Hive also attacked power generation company Tata Power in October. The Mumbai-based company had said that the attack impacted some of its IT systems.

Microsoft’s Threat Intelligence Center (MSTIC) researchers have warned that Hive upgraded its malware, enabling it to use a more complex encryption method for its ransomware as a service payload.

“Hive actors negotiate ransom demands in US dollars, with initial amounts ranging from several thousand to millions of dollars. Hive actors demand payment in Bitcoin,” according to the US advisory.
