Elon Musk Says ‘Criminally Prosecute’ Dr Anthony Fauci, Gets Criticised by Scientific Community

San Francisco, Dec 12: Elon Musk on Monday said that outgoing White House Chief Medical Adviser, Dr Anthony Fauci, should be criminally prosecuted for funding research that “killed millions of people” in the Covid-19 pandemic. His comment was met with strong criticism from the scientific community and government leaders.

Fauci, set to retire this month as the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the US, has always emphasised the safety and efficacy of the approved Covid vaccines in preventing severe illness and deaths, encouraging people to get vaccinated and boosted as soon as possible. Elon Musk Hints at Unveiling Twitter’s ‘Darkest Secrets’, Calls Microblogging Platform ‘Crime Scene’.

“My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci,” Musk first tweeted.

On Monday, the new Twitter owner told his nearly 121 million followers: “Forcing your pronouns upon others when they didn’t ask, and implicitly ostracizing those who don’t, is neither good nor kind to anyone. As for Fauci, he lied to Congress and funded gain-of-function research that killed millions of people. Not awesome imo (in my opinion),” he mentioned.

The scientific community and government leaders came in support of Fauci, who recently said that “for your own safety, for that of your family, get your updated Covid-19 shot as soon as you’re eligible to protect yourself, your family and your community”.

“You do realise that Anthony Fauci does not personally choose whose grant applications get funded, right? There’s a whole process, with two levels of review, a study section consisting of expert scientists to score the grants and then a council to prioritise which ones are funded,” surgeon/scientist David Gorski posted to Musk. Elon Musk Increasing Twitter Character Limit from 280 to 4000: Report.

Amy Klobuchar, a Senator from Minnesota, posted that she is “a big fan of Dr. Fauci and how he’s calmly guided our country through crisis”.

“Re Musk tweet? Courting vaccine-deniers doesn’t seem like a smart business strategy, but the issue is this: could you just leave a good man alone in your seemingly endless quest for attention?” She told Musk.

According to Robert Reich, a Berkeley professor and former Secretary of Labour, said that Musk and his enablers have “turned this website into a torrent of ad hominem attacks, lies floated as jokes, and blatant misinformation”.

“This isn’t freedom of speech. It’s just dangerous,” tweeted Reich.

  • YouTube Removes 5.6 Million Videos During July-September This Year for Violating Community Guidelines

YouTube Removes 5.6 Million Videos During July-September This Year for Violating Community Guidelines

New Delhi, December 2: YouTube removed 5.6 million videos from its platform in the month of July and September 2022 for violating their community guidelines.

The platform received roughly 271,000 removal appeals during the two months. Upon review, it reinstated about 29,000 appeals, said Youtube in its latest blog. YouTube Removes 1.7 Million Videos in India for Violating Community Guidelines.

From July through September of this year, for every 10,000 views, between 10 and 11 were of content that violated the community guidelines, said Youtube in the blog jointly written by Matt Halprin, Vice President, Global Head of Trust and Safety and Jennifer Flannery O’Connor, Vice President, Product Management, Youtube.

Youtube also tracks the number of appeals submitted by creators in response to videos that are removed, as this helps gain a clearer understanding of the accuracy of its systems. Community Guidelines are concerned with language and expression. YouTube Shorts Update: Soon Creators Can Use Minute-Long Licensed Music in Short Videos.

According to the blog, as the global video-sharing platform works to keep its policies evolving with the current landscape, the guiding focus is around one major goal — preventing egregious real-world harm. According to the blog, preventing egregious real-world harm, however, doesn’t mean that it would remove all offensive content from YouTube as it generally believes that “open debate and free expression” leads to better societal outcomes.

“But we’re careful to draw the line around content that may cause egregious harm to our users or to the platform,” the blog post said. Youtube said it also works closely with NGOs, academics, and relevant experts from all sides and different countries to inform this policy review.

“We watch dozens or even hundreds of videos to understand the implications of drawing different policy lines. Drawing a policy line is never about a single video; it’s about thinking through the impact on all videos, which would be removed and which could stay up under the new guideline. Following this comprehensive review, the team shares various options for policy lines, making sure to detail examples of videos that would be removed or approved for each (as well as different enforcement actions, like removal vs. age restriction),” it added.

  • Twitter Rolls Out New Update To Identify ‘Low Quality’ Community Notes

Twitter Rolls Out New Update To Identify ‘Low Quality’ Community Notes

New Delhi, November 29: Twitter has rolled out an algorithm update that identifies more low-quality Community Notes, which will result in the suspension of contributor status for those who write unhelpful annotations to provide further clarification and context on tweets. Twitter said that those users will have to earn back their “contributor” status, as Elon Musk promotes community-based moderation as the future of the company.

The algorithm update will help more low quality notes get identified, more contributors who consistently write low quality notes have their writing ability locked (and have to earn it back) and contributor helpfulness scores improve with more scoring data, said the company. Elon Musk Finds Closet Full of #StayWoke T-Shirts at Twitter Headquarters, Shares Video.

“One of contributors’ top frustrations is seeing and rating low quality notes. We just rolled out an algorithm update that identifies more low quality notes – saving contributors time, and improving the average quality of notes (and note writers),” the company said in a tweet thread. The latest update will better identify and lock out more contributors who aren’t writing helpful content. Twitter Layoffs: Employees Vent Their Frustrations Over Mass Termination Using Hashtag #OneTeam; See Reactions.

“Contributors can write notes that propose context to be added to a Tweet. Or they can write notes explaining to other contributors why a Tweet isn’t misleading, and therefore, shouldn’t have context added to it,” said the micro-blogging platform.

Twitter VP of product, Keith Coleman, clarified in a tweet that “low-quality” notes are rated as such if a “wide range of people” agree that a particular note is not helpful. “This prevents one-sided outcomes,” Coleman said.

The hacker was selling the US dataset for $7,000, the UK for $2,500, and Germany for $2,000, according to the report.

Cybernews researchers were able to get in touch with the hacker and also able to collect a sample of the data in which they found out that the shared sample contained 1,097 UK and 817 US user numbers.
