  • Google to Auto-Delete Abortion Clinic and Other Sensitive Visits From Users’ Location Data

San Francisco, July 2: Google has announced to automatically delete visits to abortion clinics, domestic violence shelters, weight loss clinics, and other potentially sensitive locations from users’ location data.

The tech giant said that if their systems identify that someone has visited one of these places, “we will delete these entries from Location History soon after they visit. This change will take effect in the coming weeks”.

The company’s announcement on Friday came in the wake of Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade case and several states immediately outlawed abortions in the US. Post Roe Verdict: 10-Year-Old Rape Victim from Ohio Forced to Travel to Indiana for Abortion After Supreme Court’s Decision.

The users can also turn off Google’s location data altogether. Facebook and Instagram are also removing posts from users who offered abortion pills via mail posts.

Following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade case, social media users started shared posts offering to mail abortion pills to people whose access to abortion has been stripped away. Facebook and Instagram immediately removed such posts.

Meanwhile, Google said that for Google Fit and Fitbit, it gives users settings and tools to easily access and control their personal data, including the option to change and delete personal information at any time. Google’s Threat Analysis Group Bans Several Malicious India-Linked Domains.

“For example, Fitbit users who have chosen to track their menstrual cycles in the app can currently delete menstruation logs one at a time, and we will be rolling out updates that let users delete multiple logs at once,” said the company.

Dentists and dermatologists, who run small clinics, are now hoping for a revival that the COVID-19 vaccination campaign is underway. With the vaccination of a large number of health workers in the state, many private practices, particularly dental and skincare clinics, which saw less decline during the epidemic, are now changing the rules.

Some are performing RT-PCR tests, which were mandatory before doctors started a procedure. Dental clinics, too, have begun to conduct procedures that she discontinued.

Rajkumar GC, principal of VS Dental College, said that many dentists had stopped procedures such as root canal treatment and dental filling. “But now that his staff has taken the vaccine, he has resumed some procedures,” he said.

They reported that root canal, dental filling, and tooth capping are aerosol-producing processes where the transmission of the virus is very high. “We were concerned that our employees may contract the virus from people who had COVID-19, but were unaware of it because they were asymptomatic. But now that our staff has completed the vaccination, we are not stressed and have started all these procedures, following the safety protocol. ”

To arouse confidence in customers, many clinics plan to display boards by announcing that their employees have taken the vaccine. Ramya Himnish, a dentist from Vidyaranyapura, said that she would put up a board with this announcement to encourage more patients to come to the clinic.

Many private practitioners are also reaching out to former clients. Rajesh S., a software professional, who had been going to his dentist for the past eight months, said, “My clinic called me last week and said that all their employees were vaccinated. So now I’m a Will decide the schedule of appointment because the person who has been vaccinated has less chance of contracting COVID-19.

Plastic surgeons and dermatologists are also optimistic that the business will accelerate. Plastic surgeon Gunsekar Vuppulapathi, consultant at GVG Invivo Hospital, said they would stop performing RT-PCR tests for all elective procedures for their patients. Prior to the drive, it was mandatory for all patients to undergo surgery. “Now, with our staff vaccinated, we plan to do away with the RT-PCR test from the coming week. Patients only undergo rapid antigen tests before the procedure.
