    Bastar, January 18: A rare species of ‘Orange bat’ was spotted at Kanger Ghati National Park and an endangered species Indian Wolf was also seen in the forest area of Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Bastar district, a forest official said.

    According to the information, the Indian Wolf has been listed as a Schedule I species in the Wildlife Protection Act (WPA), 1972 due to its extremely low numbers. Their existence in the jungles of Bastar is a matter of pleasure.

    Director of Kanger Ghati National Park, Ganveer Dharamsheel said, “The forest departmental access has now increased in Kanger Ghati National Park and Indravati Tiger Reserve situated in Naxal-Prone areas of Bastar district.     Mumbai, December 27: In an unfortunate incident that took place in Chhattisgarh, social media influencer Leena Nagwanshi (22) ended her life in Raigarh. As per reports, Leena Nagwanshi committed suicide. The 22-year-old social media influencer ended her life by hanging herself in her home in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh.

    Manendragarh, September 11: A man in Chhattisgarh did not shave his beard for 21 years with a resolve to make Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) a new district.

    His resolve was fulfilled on Friday with the Chhattisgarh government launching MCB as the 32nd district of the state.

    Ramashankar Gupta, a resident of Manendragarh is an RTI activist. Gupta shaved his beard after 21 years after the announcement of Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur as new district in August last year.     President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday appointed two additional judges in the Chhattisgarh High Court.

    A notification from the Law Ministry states that Narendra Kumar Vyas and Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court by the President in exercise of the power conferred by clause (l) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India.

    Mr. Vyas has 23 years of experience and specialized in law and industrial disputes matters.

    Mr. Chandravanshi has been elevated from judicial service as he served as Additional District and Sessions Judge and Additional Registrar in the High Court prior to his current posting as Principal Secretary in the Department of Law and Legislative Affairs, Government of Chhattisgarh.

    Naxalite killed in blast while planting IED in Chhattisgarh

    A senior police officer said that a Naxalite was killed when an explosive device (IED) was planted on the road to target security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, a senior police officer said.

    The incident occurred on Saturday on the way to Bichpal-Harpal village in Mircher police station area when rebels from West Bastar division of Maoists were engaged in planting explosives, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundararaj P. PTI

    The official said that as per preliminary information, Maoist militia commander Sunil Padam was killed when he was making the IED underground near Gethpara village, accidentally activated, causing a major explosion.

    He said that the deceased’s comrades left the body and fled from the spot, which is located 400 km from the state capital Raipur.

    After being alerted, a police team searched the area.

    Police recovered the body of the rebel and sent it for postmortem.

    “Padam, who was active in the Bhairamgarh area committee of Maoists, was reported to be an expert on the imposition of IEDs,” the official said.

    The police officer said that this is the second incident in the last one month in which the Maoists have fallen into their trap.

    On 18 February, Somji alias Sahadev, a divisional committee member of the Maoists’ North Bastar division, was killed in an attempt to put an IED in Kanker district of Bastar division.
