San Francisco, December 27: Tech giant Samsung has released an update to the beta version of its web browser ‘Samsung Internet’ for Android devices, which offers new features to make browsing more easier and secure for users.

The first feature provides users the ability to search bookmarks folder and tab groups in the browser, reports SamMobile. The other feature allows users to delete their browsing history within a specified timeline. For instance, if someone chooses to delete the browsing history within the time range of one week, then the application will delete the history for the last seven days but will keep the previous history. Earlier, the only option users had was to delete the entire browsing history. Samsung Launches Internet of Things-Enabled Air Purifiers at Rs 12,990 in India.

These two features will soon roll out to the stable version of the application, the report said. Meanwhile, in November last year, the tech giant had rolled out a new option to move the address bar of its mobile web browser to the bottom.

  • My Verizon App Reportedly Collecting Users’ Location, Browsing History & Contacts

San Francisco: The My Verizon app is reportedly collecting information about users browsing history, location, apps as well as contacts. According to new website Inputmag, ‘Verizon Custom Experience Programme’ is being pitched to users as a way for the company to personalise communications with the users and to also give more relevant product as well as service recommendations. Hackers Reportedly Slip Malware ‘Silver Sparrow’ Into 30,000 Apple Macs.

The programme introduces two different options that appear in the app, Custom Experience and Custom Experience Plus. The Custom Experience option is a stripped-down version of Custom Experience Plus, and as Verizon states in the app, it helps Verizon “personalize” its “communication with you”.

Custom Experience Plus is said to help Verizon provide users with a more “personalized” experience. However, it not only uses information about the websites and apps a user visits on a smartphone but it also uses “device location,” along with “phone numbers to help Verizon “better understand your interests.”

“We do not share information that identifies you outside of Verizon as part of these programmes other than with service providers who work for us. These service providers are required to use the information only for the purposes Verizon defines and not for their own or others’ marketing or advertising purposes,” Verizon claims on its website.

To opt-out of the Custom Experience altogether, one just needs to open My Verizon app, and then click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen. Then scroll down and select “Manage privacy settings” beneath the “Preferences” heading.

On the next page one would find toggle off “Custom Experience” and “Custom Experience Plus. To erase the information that Verizon has already collected about through the programme, tap “Custom Experience Settings,” and hit “Reset”.

  • Google To Let Users Instantly Delete Last 15 Minutes of Browsing History: Report

Google To Let Users Instantly Delete Last 15 Minutes of Browsing History: Report

New Delhi: Google is rolling out a new feature in its Search that will let users instantly delete last 15 minutes of browsing history on mobile. This feature is available in the Google app for iOS, and is coming to the Android Google app later this year. The tool is not yet available for desktop users. Currently, with auto-delete controls, one can choose to have Google automatically and continuously delete your Search history, along with other Web & App Activity, from your account after three, 18 or 36 months. Google’s Android 12 OS Will Let Users Play Games While Downloading Them.

“For new accounts, the default auto-delete option for Web & App Activity is 18 months, but one can always choose to update settings,” the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Google said that when you’re signed in, you can now choose to require extra verification for My Activity.

“With this setting, you’ll need to provide additional information — like your password or two-factor authentication — before your full history can be viewed,” the company informed. “In addition to keeping your data private and secure, we also work to keep you safe while you’re browsing and searching for information on the web,” the company said.

Google said that it will also proactively notify users if it discovers “that any of these passwords have been compromised and whether you’ve reused them across multiple sites”.

Google Safe Browsing helps protect over four billion devices every day by showing people warnings when they attempt to navigate to dangerous sites or download dangerous files.
