A signature campaign was conducted on Thursday at the office of the city’s police commissioner and police stations under the Election Commission of India (ECI) Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program to encourage 100% turnout.

Myilvagan (Headquarters), senior officers and employees working in the office premises also participated in the campaign.
A major program of the ECI for voter education, SVEEP’s main objective was to spread voter awareness and promote voter literacy. It also promotes the principle of ‘Greater Participation for Strong Democracy’.
According to officials, signature campaigns under SVEEP were also conducted at all police stations in Coimbatore city where full participation by employees was ensured. Police personnel, who are staying away from their home constituencies, were also sensitive about postal voting.
He added lists of personnel who would be deputed for various election duties within the city limits.
In Collectorate, District Collector. Rajamani inaugurated a signature campaign and also launched a gas balloon carrying a voter awareness message.
This year, industry associations have joined the vote to create awareness among the public. In a meeting held with industry associations in Coimbatore last week, district officials discussed various ways through which these organizations can conduct awareness programs.
The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codicia) has put up banners near its trade fair premises. Its LED wall displays polling awareness messages. The gas balloon at the collectorate was also sponsored by the association, said Kodia president MV Ramesh Babu. Other associations are also expected to participate in awareness activities.
