  • Google to Auto-Delete Abortion Clinic and Other Sensitive Visits From Users’ Location Data

    San Francisco, July 2: Google has announced to automatically delete visits to abortion clinics, domestic violence shelters, weight loss clinics, and other potentially sensitive locations from users’ location data.

    The tech giant said that if their systems identify that someone has visited one of these places, “we will delete these entries from Location History soon after they visit. This change will take effect in the coming weeks”.

    The company’s announcement on Friday came in the wake of Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v.     The users can also turn off Google’s location data altogether. Facebook and Instagram are also removing posts from users who offered abortion pills via mail posts.

    Following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade case, social media users started shared posts offering to mail abortion pills to people whose access to abortion has been stripped away. Facebook and Instagram immediately removed such posts.

    Meanwhile, Google said that for Google Fit and Fitbit, it gives users settings and tools to easily access and control their personal data, including the option to change and delete personal information at any time. Google’s Threat Analysis Group Bans Several Malicious India-Linked Domains.

    “For example, Fitbit users who have chosen to track their menstrual cycles in the app can currently delete menstruation logs one at a time, and we will be rolling out updates that let users delete multiple logs at once,” said the company.

The new tools include custom notification sounds, custom mute durations, new auto-delete menu in profiles, web integration for BOTs, replies in forwarded messages, improved message translations on iOS, improved Picture-in-Picture on Android, and more.     “They can also create custom alerts through any music or memes,” said the company.” With the latest update, users can now mute notifications for a specific duration, like the length of a midday nap or extended vacation,” the company announced.

    Sounds added in the notification sound list can be assigned to any chat. Tones currently support audio files and voice messages under 5 seconds up to 300 KB in size. Telegram earlier supported the feature of temporarily muting chats for 8 hours or 2 days. With the new auto-delete feature, users can now auto-delete any chat to make a conversation more confidential or less cluttered. The latest update, enables users to enable flexible timer settings – like 2 days, 3 weeks, 4 months, and more for auto-delete of any chat.

    In the latest update, Telegram has added an entirely new dimension to its existing bots giving bot developers the tools to create infinitely flexible interfaces with JavaScript. Telegram bots can now completely replace any website. The in-app translation feature of Telegram for iOS devices has been expanded to support better quality translations from many more languages, such as Ukrainian.

    New Delhi: Google on Tuesday said it is rolling out new features for Google Messages to automatically sort messages into categories, along with auto-deleting one-time passwords (OTPs). The new experience uses machine learning technology to automatically sort your messages into categories, including personal, transactions, OTPs and offers to help you easily find the messages that matter most the moment you need them. Google Messages Rolls Out New Pinch To Zoom Option To Change Font Size in Android.

    “We’ve heard from many users in India that they receive a lot of different types of messages, from friends and family and businesses sending promotions, receipts, order confirmations and more,” the company said in a statement. “With so many incoming texts vying for your attention, it can be difficult to separate the important ones from everything else. To help you easily manage your messages, today we have two new updates to the Messages app to share,” it added.

    “All of this happens safely on your device so your conversations stay in the app and you can access your categorized messages offline,” the company said. “We’ll start to roll them out over the coming weeks in English on Android phones in India running Android 8 and newer,” the company said.

    Bank transactions and bills will be filtered into the transactions tab, while conversations with saved numbers can be easily located in the personal tab. The company is providing the option to automatically delete your one-time passwords (OTPs) 24-hours after they’re received. To enable it, just tap continue when you see the suggestion prompt to confirm your selection. These features are optional and can be managed in settings.
