Google Meet Introduces Fun Filters and Masks on iOS & Android Platforms

San Francisco: Google has rolled out an update for the video calling app, Meet, that could make personal calls more enjoyable. The Meet app for Android and iOS now has filters and masks you can play with — simply tap the sparkle button at the bottom right corner of your video call to bring up the Effects options. Google Meet Rolls Out Support for Video Backgrounds on Web.

You’ll find Blur effects and backgrounds in there as you would on enterprise and education accounts, but you’ll now also find “Styles” and “Filters” among the options in the carousel, Engadget reported. Under Styles, you’ll see lens flare effects and color overlays you can apply to your video. If you want to see the truly fun options, though, look under Filters for cute animal masks and virtual accessories you can virtually put on your face and head.

These new effects are already live and based on our tests, they’re available for use even if you start a meeting through Gmail instead of through the Meet app itself, the report said.

As 9to5Google notes, Google has been releasing several features that would make the service a more veritable Zoom rival. This time, the tech giant is hoping to win over personal users with a feature that could convince them to use Meet for calls with friends and family. The publication previously reported that Google will eventually replace its Duo app with Meet entirely. This move could be a step towards that, as well, seeing as some of Meet’s new masks and filters came straight out of Duo’s library, the report said.

Contra, the iconic run and gun shooter video game is set to make a comeback soon. This time it will be available on smartphones. Konami, the developer and publisher of Contra has announced that it will introduce the game on iOS and Android platforms this month. It is worth noting that Konami has partnered with Tencent to bring the game to smartphones. For starters, who don’t know, Contra was one of the most popular arcade-based adventure games of all time. The game was developed for the 64-bit video game console generation which is also called TV video games in India. Battlegrounds Mobile India: CAIT Reportedly Requests IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad To Ban PUBG’s Indian Version.

Konami has also promised to bring the same thrill as the original arcade version along with a modern touch to it. Contra Returns will consist of over 200 levels, new game modes, a 1 vs 1 and even 3 vs 3 modes. The game is now available for pre-registration on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in the global markets.

However, there is no ‘pre-register’ option provided on the Play Store for Indian users. The reason for this could be the partnership between Konami and Tencent. Tencent is a Chinese company and last year the Indian government had banned the PUBG Mobile game in the country due to security concerns.

  • Netflix Launches New Feature for Android Users, Will Allow To Stream Partially Downloaded Content

Netflix Launches New Feature for Android Users, Will Allow To Stream Partially Downloaded Content

Washington, June 28: OTT platform Netflix has launched a new feature for Android users that will now allow them to view partially downloaded titles. According to The Verge, beginning today, Android users on mobile and tablets (versions 7.64 and higher) will be able to stream Netflix shows and movies before their download is completed.

Previously, a title needed to be completely finished downloading to a device before it could be viewed — which, depending on your Wi-Fi connection or data plan could make streaming a title a headache, particularly in the aforementioned airport scenario. Jagame Thandhiram: Dhanush’s Film Arrives On June 18 On Netflix.

Partial downloading will be limited to Android mobile and tablet devices for now, but Netflix said it “will be testing on iOS in the coming months.”

Additionally, the company said that the Downloads for You feature, which auto-downloads recommended titles based on watch history and rolled out to Android users in February, would be getting a test on iOS “soon.”

iOS users can access Smart Downloads, which launched in 2019 and downloads the next episode of a series a user is viewing, in their settings. As per The Verge, Android users will be able to find the setting in the Continue Watching section of the service or from the Download menu on Android.

  • Microsoft Windows 11 Will Reportedly Be Able To Sideload Android Apps

Microsoft Windows 11 Will Reportedly Be Able To Sideload Android Apps

San Francisco: Microsoft’s Windows 11 may not be limited to the Amazon App Store to install Android apps as it willAbe possible to sideload Android apps onto Windows 11. While distinguished engineer Miguel de Icaza notes on his Twitter account that he doesn’t speak for Microsoft, his response appears to be a ringing declaration that sideloading Android apps is possible. Windows 11: HP Announces List of PCs Eligible for the New Operating System.

This means users won’t be limited to the Android apps found on the Amazon App Store as long as they have the APK file, Android Central reported.

When Microsoft announced Android app support in Windows 11, it came with the caveat that apps would be downloaded from the Microsoft Store via the Amazon App Store.

The main concern is the number of available apps, roughly 500,000 versus around 3.5 million on the Google Play Store. That leaves out some of the more popular apps like Snapchat, which are not available on the Amazon App Store. Recently, Microsoft said that it will have more to say about the Android app experience “in the coming months”.

  • Microsoft Adds Android Apps to Windows 11 Using Amazon’s Appstore

Microsoft Adds Android Apps to Windows 11 Using Amazon’s Appstore

Washington, June 24: American tech giant Microsoft, during its Windows 11 launch event on Thursday revealed that it is bringing Android apps to the platform. They will run natively on Windows 11 and will be downloadable from Amazon’s Appstore, via the new Windows Store that’s included in the operating system.

According to the Verge, apps will be listed in the new Windows Store, and Microsoft is also partnering with Intel to use its Intel Bridge technology to make this a reality. Android apps on Windows 11 can be pinned to the taskbar or snapped alongside traditional Windows apps.

Android apps on Windows 11 are an obvious answer to Apple’s progress with its M1 chips and running iOS apps on macOS. While there are many web equivalents to mobile apps, they’re often lackluster, and certain apps like Snapchat, Ring, Venmo, Roomba, and the majority of home automation apps aren’t available on the web. Microsoft Announces Windows 11 With Updated Design, Start Menu and Widgets.

Microsoft demonstrated apps like TikTok running on Windows 11 during the launch event. The Windows store that Microsoft showed listed Ring, Yahoo, Uber, and others, so likely there will be full access to Amazon’s Appstore.

It’s not immediately clear as to how many existing devices will support Android apps with Windows 11, as hardware will need to support Intel Bridge technology.

This surprise announcement followed Microsoft’s original plans to let Windows developers rework their existing Android apps for Windows in 2015. Project Astoria, as Microsoft labeled it, was a method to try to convince developers to port apps and make it easier to do so.

The plan eventually fell apart less than a year later, with Microsoft admitting that having “two bridge technologies to bring code from mobile operating systems to Windows was unnecessary.” Microsoft Windows 11 OS Launched With New Start Menu, Android Apps Integration & More, Check Details Here.

The company had been toying with the idea of running Android apps on Windows natively for years, and it had been experimenting with the idea of listing Android apps in the Windows store just ahead of the Windows 10 launch. Instead, Microsoft pushed ahead trying to convince developers to adopt its failed Universal Windows Platform.

Android app integration directly into Windows is a significant shift, especially as the company has been favouring a different method to bridge the gap between Android and Windows. Microsoft has been embracing Android as the mobile version of Windows for years, and now those same mobile apps will run directly in Windows 11.
