According to a report by Engadget, Tag Heuer has collaborated with Nintendo to launch a Super Mario edition of its Connected smartwatch. The smartwatch will be available starting July 15 and costs a whopping $2,150 (roughly Rs 1.6 lakh).
The smartwatch runs WearOS and will be available across the world at select Tag Heuer outlets. It will also be available at the Tag Heuer online store.
What’s ‘special’ about the smartwatch?
For starters, Mario will motivate users to be active and it will reward them when they move. The watch’s dial becomes different and more animated when the wearer is active. The smartwatch also comes with a unique game-based rewards system. Mario will greet users with different animations as they complete different targets. The animations are from the Super Mario game and include Super Star, Goal Pole among others.
The new watch faces are also inspired by Super Mario. There is a Timekeeping dial that uses elements from the 1985 version of the game.
The push buttons, crown logo and the bezel are also in the Super Mario red colour. The strap and the crown have the letter M engraved on them. The smartwatch comes with two interchangeable straps — a black leather band on red rubber and a sporty alternative. It also comes in a travel case which is in the Super Mario shade of red.
Only 2,000 watches will be made and users will have to first register on the Tag Heuer website to purchase it.
