Loud AP Government’s decision to audit TTD accounts by CAG

MP Subramanian Swamy has said that he has always opposed disinvestment of public sector units, adding that he was opposed to the Centre’s decision to pull investment in the Visakhapatnam steel plant.

Mr. Swamy told media persons at the Chief Minister’s Camp office on Wednesday that he had also opposed privatization of Air India. Earlier, Sri Swamy was hosted by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for lunch. TTD President YV Subba Reddy was also present.

“Why do you want to disinvest the steel plant, and you cannot go to privatization. We are not selling family silver and you must have a good reason for disinvestment. I am in favor of market reforms, but in poor states, the state should come forward to help them, ”said Mr. Swamy.

He said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would soon visit New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

TTD accounts

Mr. Swamy said that in an unprecedented decision, the Andhra Pradesh government had decided to get the accounts of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and thanked the Chief Minister for taking a bold decision. He said that former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu never submitted the accounts to the courts despite a petition filed for audit of TTD accounts.

“We are filing it as a consent order between me and the Chief Minister and it has to be changed through a court order. My two prayers are – give Tirupati to the devotees to run it, you can talk to the Hindu Mahasabha, Shankaracharya or you can call for a conference and it is a long process, ” said Mr. Swamy.
