Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri informed on Thursday that he has tested positive for COVID-19. However, he is feeling “fine” and is recovering. In a tweet from his official handle, Chhetri said that he will be back on the football field soon. Chhetri tweeted, “In a very happy update, I have tested positive for COVID-19. In better news, I feel fine as I continue to recover from the virus and be back on a football pitch soon needed.”

“There is no better time to remind everyone to take all the safety precautions,” he said.
Chhetri recently participated in the seventh season of the Indian Super League (ISL), where he played for Bengaluru FC. It was not a good season for the Blues as they finished seventh in the points table after the league.

Last week, Chhetri was named in a possible 35-member list for the upcoming back-to-back international friendly, in which India will play against Oman and UAE respectively in Dubai on 25 and 29 March.
Chhetri is India’s all-time top scorer. For his outstanding performance, he was awarded the “League of the League” title in the 2017-18 ISL season and was also voted “AIFF Player of the Year” for the year 2017.
