DMK leaders recall ruling party’s assurances on mobile phones, cable TV tariffs
Chief Minister Edappadi K. Accusing Palaniswamy of copying the DMK manifesto, its chairman MK Stalin said on Thursday that people would know if those promises would be fulfilled [by the AIADMK] Or not.
While campaigning for DMK candidate TG Govindarajan for Gummidipondoni and Sriperumbudur Congress candidate Durai Chandrasekhar, he alleged that AIADMK failed to fulfill the promises made in the 2011 and 2016 assembly elections.
“AIADMK promises mobile phones for all. Has anyone received this? It was promised that the monthly cable TV tariff would be reduced to TV 70. It is done? What happened to the promise of mono rail in Tiruchi, Madurai and Coimbatore? ” He asked.
Recalling AIADMK’s promise in the 2019 Lok Sabha election that NEET will not be allowed in Tamil Nadu, he said that the ruling party was also not clear about the status of the resolution adopted in the Assembly against NEET. The AIADMK government is not ready to question the Center. It is under the BJP government and runs a serving government in Tamil Nadu.

Mr Stalin said that earlier he had predicted victory for the DMK alliance in 200 seats, but he was now confident that it would win all 234 seats. Later, while campaigning in Pudukottai, he took on Mr. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam was given a green signal to his leader and former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for projects and policies that he did not approve.
Mr Stalin said that as long as Jayalalithaa was alive, she was against the Goods and Services Act, UDAY Scheme, Food Security Act and NEET. However, after his death, the AIADMK government cleared all these projects, he said.
He said that the AIADMK government had supported the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act, Triple Talaq Bill and new agricultural laws. Urging voters to defeat the AIADMK and the BJP, Mr. Stalin appealed to them to ensure the DMK’s victory in all the assembly seats. He said that the BJP should not be allowed to enter Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Stalin listed the promises to be implemented specifically for the Pudukottai district after the DMK came to power.
