South Africa in its first ODI on Friday imposed a penalty of 20 per cent of the match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate against Pakistan. Andrew Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referee cleared South Africa after falling short of the target after noticing timely allowances. According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Person, which deals with minimum over-rate offenses, players are fined 20 percent of their match fees for bowling in the allotted time in their favor. Fails.
The captain, Temba Bavuma, pleaded guilty to the crime and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

Pakistan beat South Africa by three wickets in the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Both teams will now play the Horns later today in the second ODI.
