Fakhar Zaman scored his second successive century and captain Babar Azam scored 94 to win 28 runs for Pakistan in the third and final ODI against South Africa at Centurion on Wednesday. South Africa scored 320 for seven, leaving Pakistan with a chance to chase down the overall score. Left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz took three consecutive wickets to restrict the hosts to 140 for five in the 28th over.

Promising batsman Kyle Vereen (62) and all-rounder Andile Fehlukwayo (54) scored 108 runs off 100 balls for the sixth wicket but both were dismissed in the span of seven balls. South Africa were dismissed at 292.

“It matters a lot,” Fakhar said after the match. “I didn’t score that much for two years.”

“My plan was very simple,” he said. “I was trying to play normally for the first 10 overs. It is not easy to play with two new balls on these grounds in the morning.”

Pakistan captain Babar Azam said, “It is a game of confidence and we have gained a lot of confidence.” “We’ll take him and try and win the T20 series.”

Brief Score:

Pakistan 320-7 in 50 overs (Imam-ul Haq 57, Fakhar Zaman 101, Babar Azam 94; K. Maharaj 3-45)

South Africa 292 in 49.3 overs (J. Malan 70, K. Verrien 62, A. Fehlukwe 54, Shaheen Shah Afridi 3-58, Mohammad Nawaz 3-34).
