The ‘Doda Jathre’ of Srikanteshwara Swamy Temple in Nanjangud will remain simple and the event will be limited to rituals as per government guidelines, as security precautions will be taken on COVID-19 epidemic.

An order in this regard has been issued by Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri. A release said that the ‘Doda Jathre’ ritual of the temple would be held from 19 to 30 March. To prevent the spread of the epidemic, it has been decided not to keep the jatharas simple.
Usually, the event attracts millions of devotees from many parts of the state. This is the second consecutive year when it is being celebrated in a simple manner.
In lieu of ‘Panch Maha Rathotsava’, rituals were allowed to be performed in a symbolic and traditional way in the temple premises, in the presence of temple priests, temple staff and some locals, in which all small and big Maha Raths were used.
