Silver anklet at Central station, cash seized

Prior to the assembly elections, a flying squad of the Election Commission of India seized unaccounted cash and silver jewelery from two passengers at the Central Railway Station on Thursday. Both came from Andhra Pradesh.

According to reports, Udayandaste seized ₹ 16.76 lakh and 5.5 kg silver anklets from a passenger, identified as Syed Ansar Basha, 46, from Chittor, who arrived from Tirupati. An amount of ₹ 2.25 lakh was also seized from another passenger Gopal Singh who came from Renigunta.

Sources said that money and articles of silver were seized from him as they did not have proper documents to carry them. Officials said they could retrieve the items after showing the necessary documents.
