Madipakkam police on Tuesday arrested four accused, including a couple, for allegedly inviting a senior citizen to a nearby house in Balaji Nagar, Poojuthivakkam, on the pretext of receiving his blessings for their wedding anniversary.

Police said the victim, 75-year-old V. There is Saminathan, who retired from Tangdeco in 2004 and hails from Balaji Nagar, Poozhuthivakkam. Recently, four people, including a couple living as tenants in a house right in front of their house, invited her on the pretext of receiving blessings for their wedding anniversary. After this they went to his house and stopped with 6 6 lakh and a mobile phone. They fled the scene and later, other neighbors came to her rescue. He was taken to a private hospital and on a complaint from him, the Madipakkam police investigated and traced the accused to Bengaluru.

Dinesh alias Guru, 29, of Tirunelveli, his wife Noor Safa, 23 from Bengaluru, Issac, 31 from Tirunelveli, and Prabhu alias Appu Kutty, 24 from Manivatam, Kancheepuram district. Police recovered Rs 5.6 lakh and a mobile phone from them. The four accused were sent to judicial custody
