Scheme for vaccination camp of industries – The Hindu

‘Vaccination campaign organized for employees in Treasury and some banks’

On Friday, 365 employees and workers from Priceol teamed up with the Health Services Directorate to vaccinate against COVID-19 at a special camp organized by the company in the factory’s premises.

Priceol executive director Vanita Mohan told Hindu The option of vaccination was given to workers and employees, and those who came forward to take it were ensured that their underlying health conditions were under control. The company organized the camp over the weekend and vaccinators had weekends to rest. It does not affect the production schedule at the plant, she said.

He said, ‘We talked to union leaders and they worked with the workers. Those involved in field work are at risk of exposure to the virus.

The company is looking at such camps to cover more workers.

Dhaliyur’s block medical officer and a team of doctors and para medical personnel participated and “it was a well organized drive,” she said.

Deputy Director of Health Services ji. Ramesh Kumar said that after being approached for mass vaccination, employees of a private firm in Coimbatore district were allotted 200 vaccine doses. The dose was given through a primary health center.

He said that the vaccine was given to the employees who were in the age group for the second phase of the second vaccination campaign – people aged 45-59 and over 60 with 20 specific combinations.

According to him, this firm was allocated vaccine supplements as it employs a large number of workers. He said that the Coimbatore District Hoteliers Association had also requested the Health Department to arrange for mass vaccinations for hotel employees.

He said, “Vaccination campaigns were carried out for employees at the Treasury and some banks. These are places where a large number of people visit every day and by vaccinating the employees can reduce the chances of spreading the disease. Health officials have also been asked to identify key market areas for similar drives.

Some large-scale industries and industrial groups here are exploring the possibility of such a large vaccination campaign.

A challenge in textile mills is that the workers live in hostels inside the mill and if many of them do not return to work after vaccination, it will affect production. If such a camp is organized, it will have to be well planned.

“We had given the Kodisai Trade Fair Complex for the CIVID-19 Center. It can be used to organize camps for MSME owners and their family members and workers.
