Soumendu Adhikari has accused the Bengal government. Playing ‘petty politics’ by removing him as chairman of the municipal board
The Supreme Court on Monday refused to consider a petition filed by BJP’s new leader Soumendu Adhikari, who has accused the West Bengal government of playing “petty politics” by removing him as chairman of the local municipal board.
Mr. Adhikari alleged that he was released by the ruling Trinamool Congress to join the electoral state with the BJP after his brother Suvendu Adhikari was fired.
Mr. Adhikari moved the Supreme Court after the Calcutta High Court adjourned the hearing of his case.
A bench headed by Justice NV Ramana asked him to wait for the High Court order.
Justice Suryakant took strong action for certain remarks in the petition which were malign by nature.
“We had no intention of bringing the HC into disrepute … we only want a preliminary hearing.” We apologize, but that was not our objective, ”senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi submitted.
The bench said that there was a debate in the High Court regarding the stability of the petition.
The bench addressed Mr. Rohatgi, allowing him to withdraw the petition from the apex court, saying, “Leave it to the HC … You wait for the Calcutta HC order.”
