Samsung has done these 5 things to make its 2021 foldable phones 'stronger' - Times of India

Samsung’s 2021 foldable smartphones are here — Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. The all-new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 seem to have come a long way from the days when Samsung had to cancel the first Galaxy Fold launch after the review units broke. The company came back few months later with new devices, but yes some issues did continue to linger. Come 2021, Samsung is promising a lot sturdier devices — in fact strong enough to be the daily driver of those who can afford it. Here’s all that Samsung says makes Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 ‘built to last’.
Water proof
Both Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are equipped with IPX8 water resistance, so users no longer have to worry when caught in the rain. An IPX8 device can be submerged in water deeper than 1 meter (usually up to 3m/9.8ft) for more than 30 minutes and can still work properly.
Armor aluminium frame
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 phones are built with the company’s new Armor Aluminium — the strongest aluminium ever used on a Galaxy smartphone.
Stronger display that can support stylus
Both devices include a new protective film made of stretchable PET and optimized display panel layers resulting in a Main Screen that Samsung claims is 80% more durable than previous devices.
Corrosion free hinges
The phones retain Hideaway Hinge, which was first introduced on Galaxy Z Flip. It enables the devices to stay in place at any angle while using. The addition is Sweeper technology, which makes the bristles inside the Hinge shorter. This is aimed to enhance the two phones’ durability helping to repel dust and other particles.
Gorilla Glass Victus
The new Samsung foldable phones come with coating of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, the strongest Gorilla glass. This is aimed to protect the device against scratches and accidental drops.
