Russell Wilson Trade Rumors: Seahawks Answering Calls at QB; Rift with Pete Carroll at the forefront

The Seattle sound is serious.

According to ESPN’s Diana Rasini, Seahawk quarterback Russell Wilson is not “shopping”, but Seattle’s front office is answering calls about Wilson’s availability.

Russell’s report comes a month after the debut drama between Wilson and the franchise. The origins of the beef between Wilson and the ‘Hawks can be traced to the firing of offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, with whom Wilson had a strong rapport.

Soon after, reports surfaced that Wilson was frustrated with his inability to form a quality offensive line for the team, which led to Wilson becoming one of the league’s most sacked quarterbacks since his rookie season in 2012.

While NFL insider Dow Kleiman shared more details on the growing rift between Wilson and the organization on Thursday, Wilson saw himself as “the top 5 quarterbacks of all time” and felt that Seattle’s personnel and planning decisions gave him his Hold back at full capacity.

Kleiman described the situation in Seattle as a “Russell vs. Pete standoff” and Wilson’s overall performance in 2020 after a strong start led to mistrust between the player and the organization.

Although some Wilson served as a potential trade asset for Seattle after the 2021 season, the timeline may have been accelerated with the recent play, although Wilson’s contract may prove difficult to navigate. Seattle has reportedly been disappointed by Wilson’s decision to wash the organization’s dirty laundry in the media.

Some reports indicated that Wilson could cost as much as three first-round picks.

The Seahawks were eliminated in the 2020 NFL playoff wild-card round by the Reich, and are without a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
