Haryana Home Minister Anij Vij said on Friday that information was being collected regarding the start of Rohingyas settling in Haryana, saying that India was not a ‘Dharamshala’ (inn) that anyone could come and settle.
“Information is being collected about them. Further action will be taken. India is not in the inn to ensure that anyone can come and settle here, ”Mr. Vij was quoted as saying by ANI news agency.
This comment was made in the wake of the Jammu and Kashmir administration starting the verification process for the Rohingyas. The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to urgently hear a petition to release and protect 150 Rohingya refugees in Jammu for allegedly ‘detention’.
Station House Officer, Noonh City, Inspector Hadi Khan said that around 300 Rohingya had been living under the jurisdiction of the police station since 2012, but there were no reports of new arrivals.
