Far from making it to the semi-finals in the Road Safety World Series T20, India Legends will be better than South Africa on Saturday night. Meanwhile, South Africa, which defeated England Legends on Thursday, have their eyes set on another victory, which would almost confirm their place in the knockout stage. The Indians are placed second with 12 points and three wins from four matches behind the Sri Lankan giants, who are at 16. South Africa is in third place with 8 points.
India would be keen on Kevin Pietersen’s better performance against England on day two, where he was handed the first defeat of the tournament.
In that game, India came close to a win with the help of Irfan Pathan’s unbeaten 61 and Manpreet Singh Goni’s unbeaten 35 which included four sixes in the death overs. He was six runs short of England’s challenging score of 188.
India captain Sachin Tendulkar, who is not spending a great time at the crease, will be seen returning to form before the knockout stage. His best score has been an unbeaten 33 against Bangladesh Legends and the Indian giants will go into this match with the intention of scoring a half-century in this match to regain their confidence.
Other batsmen in the Indian team who are struggling to get big scores are Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif and Yusuf Pathan. All three will be eager to make their presence known with the bat.
India’s biggest worry should be left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, who took wickets for 43 runs in four overs against England. Ojha’s form will make himself more nervous as other spinners like Monty Panesar or Thandi Tashbalala are doing well in these situations.
Promoted
Coming to South Africa, the Jonty Rhodes-led outfit will be more than confident after their previous win. He looked more comfortable and ranked in his last game than Sri Lanka.
He has found his strength and form in his batting while his bowling has also started to perform well.
