Former England captain Kevin Pietersen returned the clock on Tuesday when he struck a quick half-century against India Legends in a Road Safety World Series game to help the England giants win by six runs. After the game, Pietersen took to Instagram to share an image with England’s legendary players, while taking a dig at other selectors. “So England can beat India in India! What a great game it was? England’s selectors – we are all available,” Peterson captioned the photo.
On the third day of the fourth Test between India and England, Pietersen urged the young England batsmen to bat well once and find their rhythm after struggling for runs in the Test series.
In the Road Safety World Series match, Peterson drove the talk and not only took the spinners to the cleaners, but also won on the Indian side.
In only 37 balls from Pietersen’s 75 runs in the match, the England giants scored 188 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.
For India Legends, Yusuf and Irfan Pathan were with the ball. Irfan was economical in his four overs and took two wickets, while Yusuf bowled three overs and hit three fours.
Promoted
Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar were unsuccessful with the bat, but Irfan Pathan kept the hosts in the hunt with an unbeaten half-century. He got the support of Yuvraj Singh (22) and Yusuf (17).
By the end of Manpreet Gony (35), a cameo made things interesting but needed 19 runs in the last over, but the hosts were six runs short of the target.
