Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting is confident that leading wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will be made an even better player in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Pant was named as the captain of the Delhi Capital for the upcoming IPL after regular captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the tournament as he recently injured his left shoulder during England’s tour of India.
“It is unfortunate that Shreyas will miss the tournament, but is waiting to see @ RishabhPant17. He has seized his chance. It is well deserved for his recent performance and he is coming in with a lot of confidence.” I am confident that the captaincy will make him an even better player. ” “Ponting tweeted

The high-grade Pant has been sensational among the formats this year. He played an unbeaten 89-run match-winning innings in the third and fourth Tests against Australia and helped bring India under the Border Gavaskar Trophy Downs.
He then went on to score a brilliant century against England in the fourth Test in Ahmedabad, which made him one of the white bowlers by the selectors.
Promoted
Returning to the Indian white-ball side, Pant was promoted to No. 4 in the series against England, and the 23-year-old did not disappoint. He scored half-centuries in the two ODIs he scored.
The wicketkeeper-batsman will debut as the IPL captain this season. Pant recently led the Delhi state team.
