Ravindra Jadeja hit the nets for the first time, as a thumb injury ruled him out earlier this year. Jadeja was seen hitting something in the nets without his full gear, as well as shaking his hand. Jadeja is rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru as he looks to build himself up for a fitness match ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 starting next month. Jadeja was not named in India’s squad for the T20I series against England starting on Friday, but he is part of the Chennai Super Kings team in the IPL.

Dropped out of the fourth Test match against Australia in January.

He completely missed the four-match Test series against England where he was replaced by Shahbaz Nadeem and Axar Patel.

Over the past few weeks, Jadeja has posted several videos on social media where he is seen training at the NCA and exercising in the gym.

If he regains fitness in the match, Jadeja’s quest could extend beyond the IPL when he plays the World Test Championship final against India against New Zealand in Southampton in June.

After that Test, there will be a five-match Test series against England.

Promoted

However, for now, Jadeja’s next outing is likely to come in the IPL, where he can reunite with long-time CSK teammate MS Dhoni, who will lead the team for the 12th consecutive season.

The IPL began on 9 April with defending champions Mumbai Indians Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai.
