Ravichandran Ashwin won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for February after his all-round performance in the Test series against England. Ashwin not only finished as the top wicket taker in a 3–1 series win against England, but also scored his seventh Test century. He scored 176 runs in three matches in February and took 24 wickets in the month. He became only the second fastest bowler in history after Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan with 400 Test wickets.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement, “Ashwin was the unanimous choice for victory in the men’s section in February and garnered the highest number of votes in the fan vote.”

Ashwin’s frequent wickets, even in supportive conditions, have helped keep his team ahead in a crucial series. His century in the second Test was equally important when England were trying to make a comeback in the match. It ensured that India closed the door on the opposition, ”Ian Bishop – representing the ICC Voting Academy – was quoted as saying.

England batsman Tammy Beaumont won ICC Women’s Player of the Month for February. She played three ODIs against the New Zealand Women in February and scored half-centuries in each of them.

“Three fifties, two of which were helping his team win the match, was owed to Beaumont. This was particularly emphasized by the fact that there were two not-out innings, and essentially on two occasions, his opening partner While losing early. She had to see things for her team, which was incredible, “Ian Bishop said of the England women’s opener.

The ICC started the Player of the Month Awards in January this year. Rishabh Pant won the inaugural award for men, while South African fast bowler Shabnim Ismail won the women’s award.
