Ramesh Kumar descended on Smriti Lane

A visit to Andhra Loyola College and Bishop Grassi High School in Gunadala on Wednesday saw State Election Commissioner N. It brought back childhood memories for Ramesh Kumar.

The SEC visited several polling stations set up to monitor and assess polling stations in schools and colleges in Vijayawada city. He passed away from depression after remembering his student days after entering the campus of Lostola College.

‘Tender’ vote

At the polling station set up in the CVR school premises, Rama Rao, a voter, complained to the SEC that he had been living in the area for the past several years but his and his wife’s names were missing from the voter list.

At Loyola College, 70-year-old T. Premwati brought Mr. Ramesh Kumar’s notice on a similar issue.

The SEC implemented Section 49P of the Election Rules 1961, which states that if a genuine voter, who is able to answer the questions of the Presiding Officer about his identity, should be allowed to cast a ‘tender’ vote needed. Shri Ramesh Kumar directed the officials to allow them to select the votes which have been cast on the ballot papers and sealed them.
