Puducherry Assembly Election 2021 | Enrollment status on the CEO’s site is correct

The nomination of Congress candidate Ramesh Parambath in Mahe was rejected, although his primary nomination affidavit was accepted.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shabbir Singh said on Sunday that the CEO website showed some nominations of candidates as both “rejected” and “accepted”. This was due to misclassification of the same candidate’s secondary application, he said.

Of the two incidents that caused widespread confusion and impediment during the nomination scrutiny on Saturday, the nomination of Congress candidate Ramesh Parambath in Mahe was rejected, although his primary nomination affidavit was not accepted.

In another instance, the nomination of BJP candidate Kalyanasundaram in Kalpett PML was rejected in one upload entry and accepted in another.

As it stands, the nomination of both candidates has been accepted.

‘Displayed in error’

“Once the candidates submit more than one paper in the prescribed form, the party symbol is allotted in the prescribed form, only one nomination is accepted. Secondary nomination papers of the same candidate were rejected. We are investigating the error on the site, ”said Mr. Singh.

Meanwhile, Mahe Returning Officer Shivraj Meena issued a press note stating that Congress candidate Shri Paramnath had filed two nomination papers and both nomination papers were found in order and accepted after scrutiny.

“While uploading the nomination details on the Election Commission of India website [ECI], One nomination of Ramadan Parambath was shown as accepted and the other was incorrectly rejected. The status has now been corrected. Both nominations are accepted.

The Election Department said on Sunday that nomination papers of 382 out of an estimated 450 candidates who entered the process were accepted after scrutiny exercises.
